Delorentos
Delorentos are a Dublin-based Irish alternative rock band, formed in 2005. They consist of Rónan Yourell (vocals, guitar, piano), Kieran McGuinness (vocals, guitar), Níal Conlan (bass, backing vocals) and Ross McCormick (drums, backing vocals). The band's debut album '' In Love with Detail'' was critically acclaimed in Ireland, being nominated for the Choice Music Prize and in the Best Irish Album category at the 2007 Meteor Awards, at which Delorentos were also nominated for Best New Irish Band. Two extended plays have also been released; their debut release, titled '' Leave It On'', in October 2005, and the follow-up EP, titled '' Do You Realise'', came out in November 2007. The Delorentos discography consists of a selection of singles which impacted on the Irish Singles Chart, such as "The Rules" in May 2006 and "Stop" in July 2007. In Love With Detail
''In Love with Detail'' is the debut album by Delorentos released on 21 April 2007. It reached #7 in the Irish Singles Chart and was subsequently nominated for the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year 2007. Album information Composed in between relentless touring in 2006, the album blends heavy rock ("Waiting" + "Until the next time"), alternative rock ("Basis of Everything", "Any Other Way") with more mainstream pop-indie ("Do You Realise", "Stop"). Written, played, and co-produced (with Engineer Gareth Mannix) by Níal, Ross, Ronan and Kier, the self-funded record was released on their own DeloRecords, and distributed by their managers label, Cottage Records. The album was recorded with Gareth Mannix in four week-long sessions between November 2006 and February 2007. Mannix had previously worked with Republic of Loose, The Chalets and The Blizzards. Leave It On
''Leave It On'' was the debut EP released by the Dublin-based Irish indie–alternative rock band, Delorentos. The EP was recorded in Pulse Studios over the summer of 2005 with local producer, Marc Carolan. Carolan had previously worked with bands such as Muse, The Cure and JJ72. The record was mixed in Carolan's own Suite Studio, with artwork being designed by Kevin Lynch. The track listing was "Leave It on", "Any Other Way", "Solitude", and "If she never comes around again". It was chosen as Single of the Fortnight by "Hotpress" Magazine in Ireland. Background ''Leave It On'', was an entirely independent release and was launched in Whelan's in Dublin. The band gathered some cash together to record it at the start of the year. Do You Realise (EP)
''Do You Realise'' was the second EP released by the Dublin-based Irish indie–alternative rock band, Delorentos. It was released on 9 November 2007, spending two weeks in the Irish Singles Chart and peaking at #34. The EP contained the tracks "Do You Realise", "Neon (Extended)", "All This Time" and "Circumstance and Chance". Choice Music Prize
The Choice Music Prize (), known for sponsorship reasons as the RTÉ Choice Music Prize is an annual music prize awarded to the best album from a band or solo musician who is born in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland or holds an Irish passport. For bands, the majority of members must have been born in the island of Ireland or hold an Irish passport. Since it first began in 2005, the main awards ceremony had been broadcast live on the Irish independent and national radio station, Today FM, every March with the exception of the 2014 ceremony which took place on 27 February 2014 and it is also held in Vicar Street, Dublin with the exception of the 2012 ceremony which was held in the Olympia Theatre (Dublin). Portrane
Portrane or Portraine (Irish: ''Port Reachrann'') is a small seaside settlement, three kilometres from,the small town of Donabate in Fingal, Ireland. It lies in the Barony of Nethercross, in the historic County Dublin. Portrane has a long sandy beach backed by sand dunes. There is a carpark, but access to the beach is restricted to pedestrians. At the north end of the beach is a National Heritage Area which is visited by many migratory birds during the winter. Heineken Green Energy was an Irish music festival that took place at Dublin Castle over the May bank holiday weekend. It attracted over 50,000 people per year for what was the opening of the music festival season in Ireland. The event, sponsored by Heineken International first took place in 1996 and occurred on an annual basis until 2008. The Futureheads
The Futureheads are an English post-punk band from Sunderland, formed in 2000. The band consists of Ross Millard (vocals and guitar), David "Jaff" Craig (vocals and bass guitar) and brothers Barry Hyde (vocals and guitar) and Dave Hyde (drums). Gang Of Four (band)
Gang of Four are an English post-punk band, formed in 1976 in Leeds. The original members were singer Jon King, guitarist Andy Gill, bass guitarist Dave Allen and drummer Hugo Burnham. There have been many different line-ups including, among other notable musicians, Sara Lee, Gail Ann Dorsey, and Mark Heaney. After a brief lull in the 1980s, different constellations of the band recorded two studio albums in the 1990s. Idlewild are a Scottish rock band formed in Edinburgh in 1995. The band's line-up consists of Roddy Woomble (lead vocals), Rod Jones (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Newton (drums), Andrew Mitchell (bass), and Luciano Rossi (keyboards).
