Delis Castillo Rivera De Santiago
Delis Castillo Rivera de Santiago (born ca. 1945) was interim mayor of Ponce from 2004 to 2005. She filled the post left vacant by the sudden death of long-time Mayor Rafael Cordero Santiago, completing Mayor Cordero Santiago's term. Prior to filling in the office of mayor, Castillo Rivera was vice-mayor of the municipality. She is a member of Mu Alpha Phi sorority. Rafael Cordero Santiago
Rafael Cordero Santiago (24 October 1942 – 17 January 2004), better known as "Churumba", was the Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ponce, Puerto Rico, from 1989 to 2004. Many considered him as a synonym of Ponce, being baptized as "El León Mayor" (Spanish (language), Spanish for "The Greatest Lion"), an allusion to the city's official symbol, the lion. Mayor Cordero was a firm believer in the government decentralization process. During Cordero Santiago's term in the Ponce mayoral office, the city saw the construction of the Julio Enrique Monagas Family Park, the Tricentennial Park (Ponce, Puerto Rico), Tricentennial Park Plaza, and the La Guancha Boardwalk. Francisco Zayas Seijo
Francisco R. Zayas Seijo, also known as Ico (born 4 October 1951), is a former member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives and mayor of the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. During his 4-year mayoral term, Zayas Seijo established the Mariana Suárez de Longo Library and Historical Archive of Ponce, the Museo del Autonomismo Puertorriqueño, the Centro Ponceño de Autismo (English: Ponce Center for Autism), the ''Agüeybaná II "El Bravo"'' Plaza, and also expanded the Julio Enrique Monagas Family Park. Mu Alpha Phi () is a sorority established in Puerto Rico on October 24, 1927. It is considered to be the first Puerto Rican fraternities and sororities, Puerto Rican sorority founded in the island. This is a list of mayors of Ponce, Puerto Rico's southern economic center, the island's second largest and second most important city. From 1692 to 1840, the office of mayor in Ponce was filled either by local hacendados or by military officers appointed by the governor, depending on whether the political situation on Spain at the time was that of a constitutional or an absolutist government. From 1840 to 1870, mayors were oftentimes elected by the municipal council, whose members were called ''regidores''.
