Delfines Fútbol Club was a Mexican football club based in Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche. The team last played in the Ascenso MX, the second tier of the Mexican football league system. The team played their home matches at the Estadio Unidad Deportiva Campus II de la UNACAR. History The team was founded on July 20, 2011 and originally played in the Segunda División de México, the third tier of the Mexican football league system. On May 20, 2013 it was announced that the team owner Grupo Delfines bought Ascenso MX club Toros Neza and relocated the team from Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl to Ciudad del Carmen, thus creating the current Delfines franchise. 2013–14 Ascenso MX Season
The 2013–14 Ascenso MX season took place from 19 July 2013 to 12 April 2014 and was divided into two tournaments named Apertura 2013 and Clausura 2014. The Ascenso MX is the second-tier football league of Mexico. Changes from the previous season * C.F. La Piedad were promoted to Liga MX. Ciudad Del Carmen
Ciudad del Carmen is a city in the southwest of the Mexican state of Campeche. Ciudad del Carmen is located at on the southwest of Carmen Island, which stands in the Laguna de Términos on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. , Ciudad del Carmen had a population of 169,466, up from the 2005 census of 154,197. Ascenso MX
Ascenso MX was the second tier of professional football in Mexico of the Mexican football league system. The champion of the competition was promoted to Liga MX (top-flight tier). The bottom team was relegated to Liga Premier (the third tier). It was sponsored by BBVA through its Mexican subsidiary BBVA, and was officially known as Ascenso BBVA MX. Formerly known as Primera División A (First Division A) the league rebranded in 2009 its name and competition format to Liga de Ascenso. It was rebranded in 2012 as Ascenso MX. Mexican Football League System
The Mexican football league system is organized by the Mexican Football Federation, except for the Liga MX and the Ascenso MX that are organized independently; The tournaments consist of five levels, male and female professional levels. In addition to having the Copa MX which is also organized independently to the Femexfut. Men Liga MX, known as the ''Primera División'' (First Division) before the 2012–13 season, is the highest level of Mexican football and consists of 18 clubs. Each calendar year is Apertura and Clausura, split into two short tournaments, the ''Apertura'' (Opening) and the ''Clausura'' (Closing). Toros Neza
Neza Fútbol Club, also known as ''Toros Neza'' is a Mexican football team based in the city of Nezahualcóyotl. They play in the Liga de Balompié Mexicano. The club returned for the Clausura 2011 Liga de Ascenso tournament, taking the place of Atlante UTN who had been purchased by Grupo Salinas . An earlier ''Toros Neza'' side played in the Mexican Primera División in the 1990s. Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl
Nezahualcóyotl (), or more commonly Neza, is a city and municipal seat of the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico. It is located in the state of Mexico, adjacent to the east side of Mexico City. The municipality comprises its own intrastate region, Region IX (Mexico State). It was named after Nezahualcoyotl, the Acolhua poet and king of nearby Texcoco, which was built on the drained bed of Lake Texcoco. The name ''Nezahualcóyotl'' comes from Nahuatl, meaning "fasting coyote". Nezahualcóyotl's heraldry includes an Aztec glyph as well as a coat of arms. The glyph depicts the head of a coyote, tongue outside the mouth with a collar or necklace as a symbol of royalty (one of the ways of depicting the Aztec king).
