Delfina Bernal
Delfina Bernal (born 1941 in Barranquilla, Colombia) is a Colombian painter and multimedia artist. Life Delfina Bernal studied painting and sculpture at the Escuela de las Bellas Artes in Barranquilla, Colombia. She studied with the institute's director Alejandro Obregón and teachers Marie Claire de Andreis, Freda Sargent de Obregón, and María Luisa Andino de Lopez. She studied engraving with Ben Bianchi at the Parsons School of Design in the 1970s. She was a founding member in 1973 of “Grupo 44”, along with Álvaro Herazo, Eduardo Hernandez, Victor Sanchez, Fernando Cepeda, Jairo Quintero and Christiane Lesueur. Their work culminated in the exhibition ''La fotografía como documento en el arte conceptual de Barranquilla,'' curated by Alvaro Barrios, where Bernal exhibited her work ''Declaración de amor a Jeff Perrone''. Barranquilla
Barranquilla () is the capital district of Atlántico Department in Colombia. It is located near the Caribbean Sea and is the largest city and third port in the Caribbean Coast region; as of 2018 it had a population of 1,206,319, making it Colombia's fourth-most populous city after Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali. Etching
Etching is traditionally the process of using strong acid or mordant to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in intaglio (incised) in the metal. In modern manufacturing, other chemicals may be used on other types of material. As a method of printmaking, it is, along with engraving, the most important technique for old master prints, and remains in wide use today.
