''Delete and Roll'' is a jazz fusion album by BPM, featuring drummer Terry Bozzio, saxophonist Gerald Preinfalk, and guitarist Alex Machacek. It was recorded in 2001, and was released in 2002 by Next Generation Enterprises. Alex Machacek (born 1 July 1972, Tulln an der Donau, Austria) is an Austrian jazz fusion guitarist. Early years Machacek was born to a Czech family in Tulln, Austria. His family had moved to Austria in the 1960s as refugees. Since then, they have adopted Austria as their nation. He started playing the guitar at the age of eight by taking classical guitar lessons for six years at a music school in Vienna. Machacek's early influences were heavy metal musicians and bands such as Iron Maiden, KISS, Deep Purple and Queen. However, in the mid-1980s, he was attracted to the music of Mike Stern, John Scofield, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Zappa, Chick Corea and John McLaughlin. He stated that he is influenced by all the music that he liked, including heavy metal and hard rock. Jazz fusion (also known as fusion and progressive jazz) is a music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and jazz improvisation, improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. Electric guitars, amplifiers, and keyboards that were popular in rock and roll started to be used by jazz musicians, particularly those who had grown up listening to rock and roll. Jazz fusion arrangements vary in complexity. Some employ groove-based vamps fixed to a single key or a single chord with a simple, repeated melody. Others use elaborate chord progressions, unconventional time signatures, or melodies with counter-melodies. These arrangements, whether simple or complex, typically include improvised sections that can vary in length, much like in other forms of jazz. Terry Bozzio
Terry John Bozzio (born December 27, 1950) is an American drummer best known for his work with Missing Persons and Frank Zappa. He has been featured on nine solo or collaborative albums, 26 albums with Zappa and seven albums with Missing Persons. Bozzio has been a prolific sideman, playing on numerous releases by other artists since the mid-1970s. He was inducted into the ''Modern Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 1997. His son and stepdaughter are also drummers with the latter, Marina, being a member of the band Aldious. Biography Terry Bozzio was born on December 27, 1950, in San Francisco, California. Gerald Preinfalk
Gerald Franz Preinfalk (9 June 1971 in Freistadt, Austria) is an Austrian saxophonist who is at home in both the field of jazz and classical music. Biography Preinfalk who grew up with brass bands, was nine years old when he started taking clarinet lessons, and when 15 he picked up the saxophone. In 1990 he began the instrumental studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien with Otto Vhrovnik and Wolfgang Puschnig. In 1993 he continued his studies at the Berklee College of Music with George Garzone, and in 1998 he studied classical saxophone at Serge Bertocchi in Paris.
