Delaplaine is a town in Greene County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 116 at the time of the 2010 census. History A French trading post may have operated at the current site of Delaplaine prior to the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The name is French for "of the plain," and was written as three words (De La Plaine) for many years. When the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway constructed a line through the area in the 1870s, a stop known as "Grey's Station" was established, named for one of the few female postmasters in the state at the time, Lizzie Grey. The town reverted to the name "Delaplaine" in 1875. Delaplaine incorporated in 1912. Geography Delaplaine is located in northwestern Greene County at (36.232701, -90.725807). O'Kean is a town in Randolph County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 192 at the 2020 census. History O’Kean was settled before the Civil War, and is named for the priest of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Father James O’Kean, who frequently stopped in the community en route to nearby Pocahontas. With the construction of the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway in the 1870s, O’Kean expanded rapidly. Peach Orchard is a city in Clay County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 135 at the 2010 census. History Peach Orchard is rooted in an estate known as "Petit Baril," established by French explorer Pierre Le Mieux in the early 19th century. Local English-speakers were calling it "Peach Orchard" by the time Le Mieux sold the estate in 1816. A trading post operated at Peach Orchard during the mid-19th century, and was frequently raided by guerrilla forces during the Civil War.
