Dekel Bor
Dekel Bor is an Israeli jazz guitarist and composer. Early life Bor is the son of Anat Bor, a visual artist exhibiting throughout Israel, and Alon Bor, principal percussionist for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and recipient of the Presidential Award for music education. Dekel Bor started playing guitar at age 15. As student at Thelma Yelin High-School of Arts, Bor studied jazz history, ear training and theory. During his studies, he played with fellow students Eli Degibri, Avishai Cohen, Daniel Zamir and others, and performed throughout Israel. Denmark Given a full scholarship to the Royal Danish Academy, Bor moved to Copenhagen at the age of 19. Dekel ( he, דֶּקֶל, ''lit.'' Palm tree), officially Dekel-Kfar Shitufi ( he, דקל-כפר שיתופי, lit. ''Dekel - Co-operative Village'') is a moshav in southern Israel. Located in the Hevel Shalom area of the north-western Negev desert near the Egypt-Gaza Strip-Israel border, it falls under the jurisdiction of Eshkol Regional Council. In it had a population of . History A Nahal settlement by the name of Dekel was established in the area in 1956, but was abandoned after the Suez Crisis later in the year. A gar'in group by the same name was formed in the Israeli settlement of Yamit in 1979. Donny McCaslin
Donald Paul McCaslin (born August 11, 1966) is an American jazz saxophonist. He has recorded over a dozen albums as a bandleader in addition to many sideman appearances, including on David Bowie's final studio album, ''Blackstar'' (2016). Early life McCaslin was born in Santa Clara, California, on August 11, 1966. His father was a vibraphonist, and McCaslin played in his father's ensemble at the age of twelve. He had his own group in high school, which played three years at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Musical career In 1987, after studying at Berklee College of Music, McCaslin joined Gary Burton's group and toured the world with him for four years. In 1991 he moved to New York City and was a member of Steps Ahead. In November 2014, McCaslin played saxophone on David Bowie's single "Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)". Goldberg Variations
The ''Goldberg Variations'', BWV 988, is a musical composition for keyboard by Johann Sebastian Bach, consisting of an aria and a set of 30 variations. First published in 1741, it is named after Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, who may also have been the first performer of the work. Composition The story of how the variations came to be composed comes from an early biography of Bach by Johann Nikolaus Forkel: Forkel wrote his biography in 1802, more than 60 years after the events related, and its accuracy has been questioned. The lack of dedication on the title page also makes the tale of the commission unlikely. Sonatas And Partitas For Solo Violin (Bach)
The sonatas and partitas for solo violin (BWV 1001–1006) are a set of six works composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. They are sometimes referred to in English as the sonatas and for solo violin in accordance with Bach's headings in the autograph manuscript: "Partia" (plural "Partien") was commonly used in German-speaking regions during Bach's time, whereas the Italian "partita" was introduced to this set in the 1879 Bach Gesellschaft edition, having become standard by that time. The set consists of three sonatas da chiesa in four movements and three partitas (or partias) in dance-form movements. The 2nd Partita is widely known for its Chaconne, considered one of the most masterly and expressive works ever written for solo violin. The set was completed by 1720 but was not published until 1802 by Nikolaus Simrock in Bonn. Dweezil Zappa (born Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa; September 5, 1969) is an American rock guitarist and occasional actor. He is the son of musical composer and performer Frank Zappa. Tom Harrell (born June 16, 1946) is an American jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer, and arranger. Voted Trumpeter of the Year of 2018 by ''Jazz Journalists Association'', Harrell has won awards and grants throughout his career, including multiple Trumpeter of the Year awards from ''Down Beat'' magazine, SESAC Jazz Award, BMI (Broadcast Music Incorporated) Composers Award, and Prix Oscar du Jazz. Raquel Chalfi (Hebrew: רחל חלפי) is an Israeli poet. Biography Raquel (Rachel) Chalfi was born in Tel Aviv, where she lives and works. Her mother was the sculptor and poet Miriam Chalfi and her uncle was the poet and actor Avraham Chalfi. She completed her MA in English literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and later studied theater at University of California, Berkeley as well as film at the AFI Conservatory in Hollywood.
