Deirdre Flint
Deirdre Flint is an American satirical folk-rock singer-songwriter. A former elementary school teacher, she joined the folk/comedy group Four Bitchin' Babes in 2005. Her music has appeared on the Dr. Demento radio show and on the television show ''Nip/Tuck'', as well as on The Learning Channel's "A Dating Story" and documentary "Always A Bridesmaid". Her songs, such as "cheerleading, Cheerleader," "The Boob Fairy," and "Past life regression, Past Life Regressed," deal with offbeat topics, often from the perspective of a ditzy female character. She has performed in more than 50 venues across the United States, including The Kennedy Center, and has been reviewed in publications such as ''The Christian Science Monitor'', ''The Washington Post'', and ''Billboard Magazine'', which called her "Shuffleboard Queens" album, "grown-up satire with a non-cynical wink". Satirical
Satire is a genre of the visual, literary, and performing arts, usually in the form of fiction and less frequently non-fiction, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, often with the intent of shaming or exposing the perceived flaws of individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement. Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival is an American annual folk-oriented music festival and dance festival held at Dodds Farm in Hillsdale, New York. History The first festival was a two-day event in 1988, held at a ski slope. In 1991, the festival moved to Long Hill Farm, in Hillsdale, New York, where it was held until 2005. Falcon Ridge (as of the 2016 festival) took place at Dodds Farm, also in Hillsdale, 7 miles from the previous location. As of 2021 Falcon Ridge moved to Goshen Fairgrounds, CT. Current logistics The festival is held during the first full weekend of August, currently from Friday to Sunday; camping is allowed on the premises with a camping ticket, and—counting both camping and non-camping patrons—festival attendance in past years has approached as much as 15,000 throughout the long weekend. Kerrville Folk Festival
The Kerrville Folk Festival is a music festival held for 18 consecutive days in the late spring/early summer at Quiet Valley Ranch near Kerrville, Texas. The Kerrville Folk Festival was founded in 1972 by the husband-wife team of Rod Kennedy and Nancylee Davis. The event has run annually since then. In 2002, Kennedy retired and the non-profit Texas Folk Music Foundation took over Festival management. The new board hired Dalis Allen as producer. In November 2008, the Kerrville Folk Festival and Kerrville Wine & Music Festival were acquired by the Texas Folk Music Foundation, a 501(c)3 Texas Non-profit Corporation. The event draws around 30,000 people per year. Tickets (single day or season passes) are required for admission. Many patrons camp out on the festival grounds during part or all of the festival.
