Deimos Imaging
Deimos Imaging is a Spanish company which operates a complete Remote Sensing system. The system comprises the satellites Deimos-1 and Deimos-2, the ground stations at Boecillo near Valladolid and Puertollano near Ciudad Real, the reception hardware hosted at KSAT, Svalbard, and Inuvik and kiruna at SSC and an image processing laboratory with generation of agricultural and environment products also at Boecillo. Urthecast
UrtheCast was a Vancouver-based Canadian earth observation company. It produced two of the cameras currently in use on the International Space Station. One is a medium resolution camera, while the other is the first ultra-high-definition (UHD) video camera in space. The company went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange in June 2013, but was delisted in October 2020 after filing for creditor protection. On June 22, 2015, UrtheCast announced plans to place a 16-satellite constellation in orbit called "OptiSAR" to image the earth with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical cameras, in order to provide constant earth observation, regardless of time or weather. Deimos-1 is a Spanish Earth imaging satellite which is operated by Deimos Imaging who commercializes its imagery directly but also has distribution agreements with other entities like Astrium GEO and DMC International Imaging. History It was constructed by Surrey Satellite Technology for Elecnor Deimos, representing the first Spanish Earth observation satellite and the first private one in Europe. It is based on the SSTL-100 satellite bus. Deimos-1 was launched into a sun-synchronous low Earth orbit. The launch was conducted by ISC Kosmotras, who used a Dnepr carrier rocket, with DubaiSat-1 as the primary payload. Deimos-1, along with the UK-DMC 2, Nanosat 1B, AprizeSat-3 and AprizeSat-4 satellites, were launched as secondary payloads. Deimos-2
Deimos-2 is a Spanish remote sensing Earth observation satellite built for Elecnor Deimos under an agreement with Satrec Initiative, a satellite manufacturing company in South Korea. The Earth observation system was developed by Elecnor Deimos, who managed the engineering, ground segment, integration, tests, launch contract and LEOP, in collaboration with Satrec Initiative, who provided the platform and the payload. The platform is based on DubaiSat-2 launched in 2013, with a larger battery pack intended to last for at least 7 years. The satellite was purchased by Urthecast in 2015, together with Deimos-1 and Deimos Imaging, the division of Elecnor Deimos that was in charge of the operation of both satellites.
