Defying Gravity (2008 Film)
''Defying Gravity'' is a 2008 independent film directed by Michael Keller (director), Michael Keller Lisa Savy James, written by James, and produced by Balancing Act Pictures. It was accepted into eleven film festivals and won four awards. Plot Cassandra, a Muteness, mute runaway girl, takes refuge in the Jewish cemetery in which her mother is laid to rest. She is watched over by Jorge, the cemetery caretaker, an illegal immigrant. Shore is a dynamic, handsome, and brilliant young man who also happens to be homeless. After almost hitting Cassandra in his dilapidated Volkswagen Type 2 (T2), VW bus, he becomes fascinated by the gothic cemetery waif and attempts to befriend her. A sequence of events results in Cass getting lost. Jorge and Shore flee the cemetery in a stolen hearse to find Cassandra before her abusive stepfather does. Michael Keller is an American independent filmmaker. He was the writer, director, cinematographer, and editor for the film ''Red Gold'', a social crime drama about the illegal organ trade. ''Red Gold'' was shown at various international film festivals and profiled in New Jersey Stage, and premiered at the Garden State Film Festival in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on April 5, 2014. LA Femme International Film Festival focuses on platforming women filmmakers, "by women, for everyone". The Festival was created in 2005, to answer the need to enhance women behind the camera as directors, producers, and writers. It was the first women-focused festival in Los Angeles. To meet the festival objectives of showcasing and promoting commercially viable films by women filmmakers, the organization offers mentorships, creates dialogues among creators, holds panels, and assists with finding distribution opportunities. Yermo, California
Yermo (Spanish for "wilderness") is an unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County, California. It is east of Barstow on Interstate 15, just south of the Calico Mountains. Its population was an estimated 1,750 in 2009. Founded in 1902 and originally named Otis, Yermo is situated at a division point of the Union Pacific Railroad line. A post office was established three years later with William J. Flavin serving as Yermo's first postmaster.
