The Danish Defence Staff ( da, Forsvarsstaben) is a senior command authority within the Danish Defence, responsible for leadership, administration, and staff support. Role The Defense Staff is part of the Defence Command (Denmark), Defense Command and supports the Chief of Defence (Denmark), Chief of Defence with operational management and administration of the defense. There are four department within the Defense Staff: * The High-Command Staff Secretariat * The Joint Operations Staff * The Plans and Capability Staff * The Finance Division Chief of the Defense Staff The Chief of the Defense Staff reports directly to the Chief of Defense and serves as his deputy. Hans Jørgen Garde (22 January 1939 in Frederiksberg – 3 August 1996 on Vágar, Faroe Islands) was a Danish admiral. Garde was the Danish Chief of Defence from 1 April 1996 until his death. Rear Admiral Frank Trojahn (born 20 August 1963) is a Danish naval officer. As of 1. June 2021 Rear Admiral Frank Trojahn is defence attaché at the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington D.C. The defence attaché reports to the Danish Ministry of Defence, other military authorities, and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the position of the United States and Canada with regards to defence and national security policy. Hans Jesper Helsø (born July 9, 1948), is a former Danish Chief of Defence. Helsø served his conscription in 1968 and initially became sergeant and officer of the reserve. In 1974 he becomes lieutenant and served the following four years at King's Artillery Regiment. In 1982-83 he is - as a captain - at the General Staff Course in the United States. In 1990 he was appointed Lieutenant Colonel and come back to the artillery as Head of Department for a few years. After a short staff service at the Army Operational Command, he became Head of the King's Artillery Regiment between 1994 and 1996. In 2000-02, he is Chief of the Army Operational Command, and then Chief of Operations and Planning Staffs until his appointment as Chief of Defence.
