Deepak Salvi
Advocate Deepak Salvi (D N Salvi) is a criminal lawyer in the High Court of Bombay. The State of Maharashtra in 2018 appointed him as a Retainer Counsel and Special Legal Advisor on matters relating to Reservation of Scheduled Casts, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of people. He is a member of the PCPNDT committee of the State of Maharashtra as their Legal Expert. He was appointed as the Retainer Counsel for the Central Bureau of Investigation in 2009. He was appointed by the CBI as a special prosecutor in the cases of the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts cases, Jalgaon murder case, Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. He is known for his contribution in the Adarsh Society Scam Case in helping the Bombay High Court monitor the probe. Bombay High Court
The High Court of Bombay is the high court of the states of Maharashtra and Goa in India, and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. It is seated primarily at Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay), and is one of the oldest high courts in India. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the premier investigating agency of India. It operates under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. Vishram Patil Murder Case
The Vishram Patil murder case gained national attention in India when the widow of the murder victim accused Pratibha Patil, the presidential nominee of the United Progressive Alliance, of shielding her brother, G. N. Patil, in relation to it. Murder G. N. Patil was nominated by the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee to be president of the District Congress Committee of Jalgaon in 2004. Sohrabuddin Sheikh Fake Encounter
The Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case was a criminal case in the Gujarat state after the death of Sohrabuddin Anwarhussain Sheikh on November 26, 2005. A special CBI court acquitted all the 22 accused in the case in the alleged encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife. Apart from being involved in the criminal extortion racket in Gujarat, Sheikh was also involved in arms smuggling in Madhya Pradesh, and also had murder cases registered against him in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Sheikh was also claimed by the police to be associated with the banned global terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence, and was alleged to have planned to create communal chaos in the state by assassinating "an important political leader". Adarsh Housing Society Scam
The Adarsh Housing Society is a 31-story building constructed on prime real estate in Colaba, Mumbai, for the welfare of war widows and personnel of Ministry of Defence (India), India's Ministry of Defence. Over a period of several years, politicians, bureaucrats and military officers allegedly conspired to bend several rules concerning land ownership, zoning, floor space index and membership getting themselves flats allotted in this cooperative society at below-market rates. The scam was unearthed in November 2010 which forced the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ashok Chavan, to resign.
