Deep Roots (radio Program)
''Deep Roots'' is a Canadian radio program focusing on folk and roots music. The program, hosted by Tom Power, airs on CBC Radio 2. Power, who began the program while still attending Memorial University, is believed to be the youngest regular host of a CBC Radio program since Peter Jennings's tenure as host of ''Peter's People'' in 1947 (at the age of nine). ''Deep Roots'' aired on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. (6:00 AT, 6:30 NT) and Sundays at 5:00 p.m. (5:30 NT). It also airs on the Sirius XM feed of CBC Radio One (channel 169) Sundays at 10:00 p.m. ET and early Thursday mornings at 4:00 a.m. ET. Tom Power (musician)
Tom Power (born May 1, 1987) is a Canadian musician and broadcaster, best known as the host of '' Q'' on CBC Radio One, previously the host of '' Deep Roots'' and '' Radio 2 Morning'' on CBC Radio 2. In August 2016, he was named as the permanent new host of ''Q'', succeeding Shad. Based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Power began hosting ''Deep Roots'' in 2008 while he was a student of folklore at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Just 21 years old at the time, he was the youngest host of a national program on CBC Radio since Peter Jennings. After Bob Mackowycz's departure as host of ''Radio 2 Morning'' in July 2011, Power spent several weeks as the show's interim host before being named the permanent new host in November. CBC Music (formerly known as CBC FM, CBC Stereo and CBC Radio 2) is a Canadian FM radio network operated by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It used to concentrate on classical and jazz. Peter Jennings
Peter Charles Archibald Ewart Jennings (July 29, 1938August 7, 2005) was a Canadian-born American television journalist who served as the sole anchor of ''ABC World News Tonight'' from 1983 until his death from lung cancer in 2005. He dropped out of high school, yet he transformed himself into one of American television's most prominent journalists. Jennings started his career early, hosting a Canadian radio show at age 9.
