Deena Michelle Kastor (née Drossin; born February 14, 1973) is an American long-distance runner. She was a holder of American records in the marathon (2006-2022) and numerous road distances. She won the bronze medal in the women's marathon at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. She is also an eight-time national champion in cross country. Early and personal life Kastor is Jewish, and was born in Waltham, Massachusetts. She is an alumna of Agoura High School located in Agoura Hills, California. Deena Mapple (born Deena Brush March 2, 1960) is a retired American competitive water skier. She is regarded to be one of the greatest female water skiers of her generation. Her Grand Slam Victory in 1987 - overall wins in the World Championships, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Masters and the Pro Tour - made her one of two athletes to ever accomplish the feat. She remains the only American to earn membership to the United States Waterskiing Team seven consecutive times. Deena Horst (born February 14, 1944) is a Republican former member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 69th district. She served from 1995 until 2010, when she was defeated in a primary by Tom Arpke, who would win the seat in the general election. Horst currently serves on the Kansas Board of Education, representing district 6, after defeating Salina Democrat Carol Viar in the 2012 general election. Deena Diane Deardurff (born May 8, 1957), also known by her married name Deena Schmidt, is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic champion, former world record-holder, and former college swim coach. Swimming Deardurff swam for the Cincinnati Marlins, a team funded by Charles Keating. One of the team coaches was Paul Bergen, who is reported to have said that swimmers need 12,000 miles of experience in order to compete in the Olympics. At the age of 15, Deardurff represented the United States at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany. Diane Margaret "Deena" Payne (born 29 August 1954) is an English actress and former singer. She is best known for playing Viv Hope in the long-running ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale''. Deena Weinstein (born March 15, 1943) is a professor of sociology at DePaul University whose research focuses on popular culture. She is particularly well known for her research on heavy metal culture, on which subject she wrote a ground-breaking book, ''Heavy Metal: A Cultural Sociology'' (1991), later published in a revised and updated version as ''Heavy Metal: The Music and Its Culture'' (2009).
