Chamundi Express
Chamundi Express is a daily commuter train between Mysore and Bangalore. This train leaves Mysore at 7 AM to reach Bangalore City at 9:30 AM. Returning it leaves Bangalore City at 6:25 PM and reaches Mysore at 9:05 PM. Post the restoration after COVID-19, the train is being run using MEMU rake instead of conventional rake. Relevance This train traces its name to mythology. Chamundeshwari is an incarnation of Adi Parashakti who destroyed the demon Mahishasura. At the spot believed to be the place where Chamundeshwari killed Mahishasura, a temple was constructed there, currently located in Chamundi Hills in Mysuru. The Maharaja of Mysore and the royal family of Mysore worshipped Chamundeshwari as their patron deity. The Wodeyar Express (formerly Tippu Express) is a Superfast train running between Bengaluru and Mysuru in India. It covers a distance of 139 km in 2.5 hours with two stops, one at Mandya and another at a suburb in Bengaluru, Kengeri. South Western Railway launched an information and entertainment system, "Infotainment on Wheels", on the Wodeyar Express. The new infotainment system allows commuters on board to get real-time information on the arrival and departure of trains and view daily news, weather and entertainment. Pallavan Express is an Intercity express typed superfast service operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. This service connects the cities of Chennai to Karaikudi via Tiruchirappalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The rakes of this train was upgraded to brand new modern LHB rakes from 30 June 2019. The Cholan Express is a superfast express train operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. This train connects and Tiruchchirappalli via Viluppuram, Kumbakonam and Thanjavur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. New LHB coach has been installed for this train since 16 February 2017. Rockfort Superfast Express
The Rockfort Express is a Superfast Express overnight Express rail connecting Tiruchirappalli with Chennai Egmore via Villupuram in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This train serves as the main connectivity to the state capital Chennai city and Tiruchirappalli city along the route. Background and Relevance The eponymous train is named after the famous 12th-century fortress Rockfort temple in the heart of Tiruchirapalli. The train originally ran between Madras Egmore and Tiruchirappalli Junction on the ' Chord Line'. Later, when the 'Main Line' was closed for operations to facilitate gauge conversion projects, a part of this train was extended to Thanjavur Junction as Rockfort Link Express (6177A/ 6178A). It was further extended to Kumbakonam during the Mahamaham festival. The extended run was truncated effective September 2013. The entire formation now runs up to Tiruchirappalli Junction.
