Declan Carr
Declan Carr (born 30 July 1965) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a midfielder for the Tipperary senior team. Carr joined the team during the 1988-89 National League and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until he quit the panel after the 1993-94 National League. He made a brief return for the 1999 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals, three Munster medals, one National League medal and one All-Star award. Carr captained the team to the All-Ireland title in 1991. At club level Carr is a one-time county club championship medalist with Holycross–Ballycahill. He has also managed the Holycross-Ballycahill senior team and the Tipperary U-21 team. Early life Declan Carr was born in Dublin in 1965. Holycross–Ballycahill GAA
Holycross–Ballycahill GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club that is centred on the villages of Holycross and Ballycahill and is located around five miles outside Thurles. History The club was founded in 1885. Holycross–Ballycahill GAA club compete in the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. The period from 1947 to 1953 was the club's golden era. Four Mid Tipperary Senior Titles and three Senior County Tipperary titles in 1948, 1951 and 1954, under the captaincy of Francis Maher. This is the list of All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship winning captains for the hurling sports competition in Ireland. Each team has one captain. In many counties the captain is chosen by the club that won the Senior County Hurling Championship in the previous year. Tomás Mulcahy
Tomás Mulcahy (born 26 June 1963) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer who played as a right corner-forward at senior level for the Cork county team. Born in Blackpool, Cork, Mulcahy first played competitive Gaelic games during his schooling at the North Monastery. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor teams as a dual player before later joining the under-21 sides. He made his senior hurling debut during the 1983 championship. Mulcahy immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won three All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. Ken Hogan
James Kenneth Hogan (born 1 May 1963) is an Irish former hurler who played as a goalkeeper at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Born in Lorrha, County Tipperary, Hogan first played competitive hurling whilst at school at the Presentation College, Birr. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team, before later joining the under-21 team. He joined the senior team during the 1986 championship. Hogan went on to win two All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions throughout his career, however, Hogan never won a Railway Cup medal. Fr. Thomas Fogarty (born 1951) is a Roman Catholic priest and former hurler who played as a left corner-back at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Born in Templetuohy, County Tipperary, Fogarty first played competitive hurling in his youth. attended Thurles CBS, and trained for the priesthood at St. Patrick's College, Thurles and was ordained for the Diocese of Cashel and Emly. Colm Bonnar
Colm Bonnar (born 12 June 1964) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He is the former manager of the Tipperary senior hurling team having served as manager from September 2021 to July 2022. He is also the former manager of the Carlow senior hurling team. Bonnar played for club sides Cashel King Cormacs and Dunhill and was a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team for 13 seasons, during which time he usually lined out at midfield. Bonnar began his hurling career at club level with Cashel King Cormacs. He broke onto the club's top adult team after championship success in the minor and under-21 grades. This article lists players who have recently captained the Tipperary county hurling team in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. The captain is normally chosen from the club that has won the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. This did not happen in 1989. In that year Loughmore Castleiney were the reigning county hurling champions but did not hold the captaincy during the championship as none of their players were deemed good enough to make the team. In 1989 therefore Pat McGrath of Loughmore Castleiney was the captain during the National Hurling League and Bobby Ryan of Borris-Ileigh was the captain during the Championship. Declan Ryan (born 25 March 1968) is an Irish former hurler and team manager with Tipperary. Regarded as one of his county's greatest hurling servants, Ryan joined the team during the 1988 championship and was a regular member of the team until his retirement after the 2001 championship. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and four National Hurling League medals. He has ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions.
