Debug (film)
''Debug'' is a 2014 Canadian science fiction horror film written and directed by David Hewlett. It stars Jeananne Goossen, Adrian Holmes, Adam Butcher, Kjartan Hewitt, Sidney Leeder, and Jadyn Wong as computer programmers who must deal with a hostile artificial intelligence on an interstellar spaceship. It was released on 3 November 2014 in the UK. Plot Six programmers incarcerated for hacking are out on work release, lead by the corrections officer Capra. Their mission is to reboot and restore the abandoned spacecraft found floating aimlessly through space. Once on the spacecraft each hacker is assigned a task to reboot the system. Before assignment begins Mel argues that he should be in charge of the task because Kaida had a fellow prisoner killed on last work release (unknown if intentional or accidental). David Hewlett
David Ian Hewlett (born 18 April 1968) is a British-born Canadian actor, writer, and director known for his role as Dr. Rodney McKay in the '' Stargate'' science-fiction franchise. He first gained fame for his roles as Grant Jansky in the Canadian TV series '' Traders'' (1996—2000) and as David Worth in the Canadian psychological horror film ''Cube'' (1997). He had earlier appeared in the horror film ''Pin'' (1988) and the science-fiction film '' Scanners II: The New Order'' (1991). More recently, Hewlett had a prominent supporting role in ''Rise of the Planet of the Apes'' (2011), portraying bad-tempered airplane pilot Douglas Hunsiker opposite John Lithgow and Andy Serkis. Hewlett played the character Fleming in the multi-Academy Award winning film ''The Shape of Water'' (2017). ''Cube'' is a 1997 Canadian independent science fiction horror film directed and co-written by Vincenzo Natali. A product of the Canadian Film Centre's First Feature Project, Nicole de Boer, Nicky Guadagni, David Hewlett, Andrew Miller, Julian Richings, Wayne Robson, and Maurice Dean Wint star as individuals trapped in a bizarre and deadly labyrinth of cube-shaped rooms. Vincenzo Natali (born 1969) is an American-born Canadian film director and screenwriter, known for writing and directing Science fiction film, science fiction and horror films such as ''Cube (1997 film), Cube'', ''Cypher (film), Cypher'', ''Nothing (film), Nothing'', and ''Splice (film), Splice''. Early life and education Natali was born in Detroit, to a nursery school teacher/painter mother and a photographer father. He is of Italian and English descent.
