Debre Sina (Eritrea)
Debra Sina ( ti, ደብረ ሲና) is a monastery in the highlands of Eritrea near Keren in the Anseba Region. History It was the site of the first Holy Communion prepared in the Eritrean Orthodox Church, by the 4th-century bishop Aba Salama. It is one of the oldest monasteries in Africa and the world, because probably built in the third century. The monastery is the site of a pilgrimage by Eritrean Orthodox believers each year in June. The pilgrimage centers on a church above the village where a vision of Mary was said to have been seen by shepherd girls beneath a large boulder. The church is built adjacent to and over the rock where the vision was seen. Hora-Dambal also known as Lake Zway or Dambal ( Oromo: ''Hora Dambal'', Amharic: ዟይ ሐይቅ) is one of the freshwater Rift Valley lakes of Ethiopia. It is located about 100 miles south of Addis Ababa, on the border between the Oromia and Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region; the woredas holding the lake's shoreline are Adami Tullu Jido Kombolcha, Dugda, and Batu town. Debre Sina, now Borena Sayint ( Amharic: ደብረ ሲና "Mount Sinai"/ ቦረና ሣይንት) is a woreda in Amhara Region, Ethiopia. Part of the Debub Wollo Zone, Debre Sina is bordered on the south by Wegde, on the west by the Abbay River which separates it from the Misraq Gojjam Zone, on the north by Mehal Sayint, on the northeast by Sayint, and on the east by Legambo. The administrative center is Mekane Selam; other towns in Debre Sina include Amsale Genet. Debre Sina is a town in Amhara Region, Ethiopia. Located in Semien Shewa (North Shewa) zone the town has a latitude and longitude of with an elevation of 2630 to 2830 meters above sea level.
