Nicholas Liverpool
Nicholas Joseph Orville Liverpool (9 September 1934 – 1 June 2015) was a politician and jurist from Dominica who served as the sixth President of Dominica from 2 October 2003 to 17 September 2012. Biography In 1957, Liverpool entered the University of Hull and obtained an LL.B (Hons.) degree in 1960. He was called to the bar at Inner Temple in 1961. He received a Ph.D degree from University of Sheffield in 1965. After returning to the Caribbean, he spent 18 years as a law lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Barbados and in 1992 became dean of its law school. He served as a regional judge and then an appeal court judge in several countries in the Caribbean including Belize and Grenada. He also served as a high court judge in Antigua and Montserrat and served on a number of tribunals and commissions for legal reform. Jean Ritchie
Jean Ruth Ritchie (December 8, 1922 – June 1, 2015) was an American folk singer, songwriter, and Appalachian dulcimer player, called by some the "Mother of Folk". In her youth she learned hundreds of folk songs in the traditional way (orally, from her family and community), many of which were Appalachian variants of centuries old British and Irish songs, including dozens of Child Ballads. In adulthood, she shared these songs with wide audiences, as well as writing some of her own songs using traditional foundations. She is ultimately responsible for the revival of the Appalachian dulcimer, the traditional instrument of her community, which she popularized by playing the instrument on her albums and writing tutorial books. She also spent time collecting folk music in the United States and in Britain and Ireland, in order to research the origins of her family songs and help preserve traditional music. She began her career as a painter, and later became best known for computer-mediated interactive installations and participatory web-based artworks. Serajur Rahman
A. N. M. Serajur Rahman (1934 – 1 June 2015) was a British journalist of Bengali Muslim descent and broadcaster. From 1960 to 1994, he worked for BBC World Service, and was the deputy chief of BBC Bangla Service before retirement. Early life Rahman was born in Chittagong division in the then Bengal Presidency, Bengal Province of the British India. His father, Mawlana Habibur Rahman, was a teacher and scholar at Alia Madrasa in Calcutta. He spent most of his early and formative years in Calcutta, matriculating with distinction in 1947 from Calcutta Mitra Institution School. He was actively involved in the Mukuler Mahfil Youth Organisation. Kirill Vladimirovich Pokrovsky (Kирилл Владимирович Покровский; 25 March 19621 June 2015) was a Russian composer and musician. Kirill Pokrovsky learned to play and compose music from a young age, before receiving classical training at Moscow Conservatory. The Reverend Doctor Virgil A. (Buck) Moyer, Jr. (October 28, 1920 – June 1, 2015) was a Lutheran pastor who served as President and Bishop of the Virginia Synod from 1976–1987. Virgil A.
