Death Of Haider
On 15 February 2022, a six-year-old boy named Haider fell into a 25-metre narrow well while walking on the side of the road in Shokak village, Zabul, Afghanistan. His body was recovered on 18 February 2022. Rescue When Haider fell into the well, rescuers pulled him up ten metres, but he became stuck in a place where the well-casing was very narrow. He remained in that position for about 30 hours. Rescue officials retrieved Haider on 18 February after hours of trying. He had not been heard for 24 hours. Rescuers dug a trench to reach the Haider, who was airlifted to a hospital in Kabul. When the incident was reported, Afghan Defence Minister Mohammad Yaqoob and senior Taliban leader Anas Haqqani arrived at the scene and oversaw the rescue operation. Reactions Anas Haqqani, a senior adviser to the Taliban's Interior Ministry, said in a tweet "With great sadness, little Haider is gone forever". Mohammad Yaqoob
Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid (Pashto/, , ; born 1990) is an Afghan Islamic scholar, cleric, and Islamist militant who is the second deputy leader of Afghanistan and the acting defense minister. He has been a deputy leader of the Taliban since 2016, and was additionally appointed to his ministerial role after the Taliban's victory over Western-backed forces in the 2001–2021 war. He has also been the Taliban's military chief since 2020. Biography Mullah Yaqoob is an ethnic Pashtun of the Hotak tribe, which is part of the larger Ghilji branch. Anas Haqqani ( ; born ) is a leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the Taliban movement and was also a member of the Taliban's negotiation team in its political office in Doha, Qatar. Death Of Rayan Aourram
On 1 February 2022, five-year-old Moroccan boy Rayan Aourram (; ) fell into a dry well in Ighran village in Tamorot commune, Chefchaouen Province, Morocco. Rescue attempts were delayed by the narrow well and fragile ground. A separate trench was dug to access the bottom of the well, although when rescuers reached Aourram on 5 February it was discovered that he had died. Background The mountainous region where the accident took place is located in the vicinity of Chefchaouen, in the Rif region of Northern Morocco, a region known for cannabis cultivation, which constitutes a main income resource for many poor families.
