Brian Charles Dear (born 18 September 1943) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker in the Football League for West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham and Millwall. Career Dear, nicknamed ''Stag'', started his career with West Ham United, joining the club at the age of 15, and represented England Schools. He made his Hammers debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 29 August 1962, and went on to make 69 league appearances for the club, scoring 33 goals. He was a member of the 1964–65 European Cup Winners' Cup-winning side. He holds the record for the quickest ever five goals in an English game, 20 minutes either side of half time, in a home tie against West Brom on 16 April 1965. Cleveland Dear Sr. (August 22, 1888 – December 30, 1950), was a two-term U.S. representative for Louisiana's 8th congressional district, since disbanded, a district attorney, a state court judge, and a candidate in 1936 for governor of Louisiana. A Democrat from Alexandria, Louisiana, he was allied with the anti-Long political faction. Greg Dear
Greg Dear (born 17 April 1963) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Hawthorn and Richmond in the VFL/AFL. A ruckman, Dear was a member of the strong Hawthorn sides of the late 1980s and a premiership player in 1986, 1988 and 1989. He could have had a fourth in 1991 but missed the entire season due to a serious knee injury. In 1994 he was traded to Richmond where he finished his career. Dear had joined the senior Hawthorn side in 1985 after impressing in the reserve grade, winning the Gardiner Medal for the league's best reserve player. John Dear (born August 13, 1959) is an American Catholic priest, peace activist, lecturer, and author of 35 books on peace and nonviolence. He has spoken on peace around the world, organized hundreds of demonstrations against war, injustice and nuclear weapons and been arrested 85 times in acts of nonviolent civil disobedience against war, injustice, poverty, nuclear weapons and environmental destruction. Dear has been nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize, including in January 2008 by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Noach Dear (November 20, 1953 – April 19, 2020) was an American attorney, politician, and jurist who served as a New York Supreme Court judge. Dear was elected in 2008 as a civil court judge, in 2010 as an Acting Supreme Court Justice, and in 2015 for a 15-year term as a Permanent Justice on the New York Supreme Court. Paul Dear (28 December 1966 – 8 July 2022) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Younger brother of fellow Hawk ruckman Greg Dear, Paul was the smaller of the two; Greg stood at 199 cm to Paul's 188cm. Though giving away inches to taller opponents, Paul would occasionally be the secondary ruckman for the team. The Dear brothers were recruited when the Latrobe Valley was in the zone.
