Deanna Haunsperger
Deanna Haunsperger is an American mathematician and Professor of Mathematics at Carleton College. She was the president of the Mathematical Association of America for the 2017–2018 term. She co-created and co-organized the Carleton College Summer Mathematics Program for Women, which ran every summer from 1995 to 2014. Education Haunsperger received her Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and computer science from Simpson College in 1986. She received her Masters in mathematics in 1989 and her Ph.D. in mathematics in 1991 from Northwestern University. Her dissertation was entitled ''Projection and Aggregation Paradoxes in Nonparametrical Statistical Tests'' and her advisor was Donald Gene Saari. Career Haunsperger was an assistant professor of mathematics at St. Olaf College from 1991 to 1994. Since 1994, she has been a faculty member in the mathematics department at Carleton College. American Mathematical Society
The American Mathematical Society (AMS) is an association of professional mathematicians dedicated to the interests of mathematical research and scholarship, and serves the national and international community through its publications, meetings, advocacy and other programs. The society is one of the four parts of the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics and a member of the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences. History The AMS was founded in 1888 as the New York Mathematical Society, the brainchild of Thomas Fiske, who was impressed by the London Mathematical Society on a visit to England.
