Dean is a title employed in academic administrations such as colleges or universities for a person with significant authority over a specific academic unit, over a specific area of concern, or both. In the United States and Canada, deans are usually the head of each constituent college and school that make up a university. Bayless Manning
Bayless Andrew Manning (March 29, 1923 – September 18, 2011) was an American lawyer, law professor, writer and expert of corporate law. He served as the dean of Stanford Law School from 1964 to 1971. He left Stanford in 1971 and became the first president of the Council on Foreign Relations. Manning worked as the editor of the ''Yale Law Journal'' as a law student before graduating from Yale Law School as valedictorian of the class of 1949. He then clerked for Justice Stanley Forman Reed, an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Manning taught as a professor at Yale University from 1955 to 1964. Larry Kramer (born June 23, 1958) is an American legal scholar and nonprofit executive. Paul Brest
Paul Brest (born 1940) is an American scholar of constitutional law, a former president of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and a former dean of Stanford Law School. He is an influential theorist on the role of non-profit organizations in society, and is widely credited with coining the name originalism to describe a particular approach to interpreting the United States Constitution. John Hart Ely
John Hart Ely ( ; December 3, 1938 – October 25, 2003) was an American legal scholar. He was a professor of law at Yale Law School from 1968 to 1973, Harvard Law School from 1973 to 1982, Stanford Law School from 1982 to 1996, and at the University of Miami Law School from 1996 until his death. Thomas Ehrlich (born March 4, 1934) is a consulting professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. He has been married to Ellen R. Ehrlich since 1957. Charles Henry Huberich (February 18, 1877June 18, 1945) was an American lawyer and scholar of international law. In 1906, he served as the acting executive head of Stanford Law School. Life and education Charles Henry Huberich was born on February 18, 1877, in Toledo, Ohio, to Emma (Richers) Huberich and Conrad Huberich.
