Dead Child
Dead Child is a heavy metal band from Louisville, Kentucky. The band played its first show at Lisa's Oak Street Lounge on August 19, 2006 with Pusher, Lords, and Blade of the Ripper. During the 2005 Slint reunion tour, Pajo, Cook and McMahan decided that they wanted to play a more aggressive style of music akin to early Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and other metal bands that they admired as young fans. The band has recorded an EP aHeadbanging Kill Your Mama Musicin Louisville. The EP was released on February 6, 2007 on the Cold Sweat label. They also performed their song "Never Bet the Devil Your Head" for the '' Burn to Shine'' DVD series. The band's debut album ''Attack'' was released on April 8, 2008 on Quarterstick Records and was produced by Brad Wood. The For Carnation
The For Carnation are a slowcore/post-rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, formed in 1994. The band was formed by Brian McMahan, who is the only constant group member. McMahan's previous band Slint hinted at the distinctive sound and sombre aesthetic he would create in The For Carnation. To date they have released two EPs and one self-titled album: ''Fight Songs'' (Matador Records, 1995), ''Marshmallows'' (Matador, 1996), and ''The For Carnation'' (Touch and Go Records, 2000). ''Fight Songs'' and ''Marshmallows'' were compiled into one record, ''Promised Works'', and released by Runt in 1997. ''Promised Works'' was re-released by Touch and Go Records in 2007. ''Headbangers Ball'' is a music television program that consisted of heavy metal music videos airing on MTV and its global affiliates. The show began on MTV on April 18, 1987, playing heavy metal music videos from both well-known and more obscure artists. The show offered (and became famous because of) a stark contrast to Top 40 music videos shown during the day. However, with the mainstream rise of alternative rock, grunge, pop punk and rap music in the 1990s, the relevance of ''Headbangers Ball'' came into question, and the show was ultimately canceled in 1995. "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" is an African-American spiritual song and one of the best-known Christian hymns. Originating in early oral and musical African-American traditions, the date it was composed is unknown.
