Dead Caesar
''Dead Caesar'' was a 2007 stage show written by Australian comedian Chris Taylor from The Chaser. The satirical show parodied ''Julius Caesar'', a play by William Shakespeare. Production Taylor was persuaded, while drunk, by Brendan Cowell, director of Wharf 2LOUD, to write a play. He ended up writing a parody of William Shakespeare's tragedy ''Julius Caesar''. Chris Taylor (comedian)
Christopher Thornton Taylor (born 15 July 1974) is an Australian comedy writer, performer and broadcaster from Sydney. As a member of The Chaser, he is best known for co-writing and appearing on satirical ABC Television shows ''CNNNN'' (2002–2003) and '' The Chaser's War on Everything'' (2006 – July 2009). He formerly co-hosted the drive radio show '' Today Today'' (2004–05) on Triple J with fellow Chaser member Craig Reucassel, and in 2007, he wrote the musical comedy '' Dead Caesar''. Taylor also hosted the mini documentary series 'Australia's Heritage: National Treasures'. In 2010, with his Chaser colleague Andrew Hansen, Taylor made a musical comedy series for Triple J titled ''The Blow Parade'', which became the number one podcast in the country, and won the 2010 ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release. Andrew John Hansen (born 18 September 1974) is an Australian comedian, musician and author, best known for being a member of satirical team The Chaser. As a member of The Chaser, Hansen's television work includes co-writing and starring in ABC Television shows ''CNNNN'' (2002–2003), ''The Chaser Decides'' (2004, 2007), ''Chaser News Alert'' (2005), '' The Chaser's War On Everything'' (2006–07, 2009), ''Yes We Canberra!'' ''Cirque du Chaser'' was a stage production, produced by Laughing Stock Productions, and written and performed by the Australian comedian team The Chaser in 2005. In March 2005 as part of the Sydney Big Laugh Comedy Festival, The Chaser team launched an 85-minute stage show named ''Cirque du Chaser'' (the name is a parody of Cirque du Soleil) to sellout audiences. It was originally intended to have seven shows, but due to popular demand an eighth show was added at short notice. ''The Chaser's Age of Terror Variety Hour'' was a touring stage show by Australian comedian team The Chaser. It was produced by Laughing Stock and was the second stage show the Chaser team have produced. Production The Chaser were originally formed by Charles Firth (comedian), Charles Firth, Dominic Knight, Craig Reucassel, and Julian Morrow, and in 1999, they ran a fortnightly newspaper entitled ''The Chaser (newspaper), The Chaser''. The Chaser
The Chaser are an Australian satirical comedy group, best known for their television programmes and satirical news masthead. The group take their name from their satirical newspaper, a publication known to challenge conventions of taste. The group's motto is "Striving for Mediocrity in a World of Excellence". Founding The Chaser's earliest foundation was a satirical school paper called ''The Tiger'', created by future members Charles Firth, Dominic Knight and Chas Licciardello as a way to "wring as much money as heycould out of their expensive private school" while attending Sydney Grammar. The three then met Julian Morrow, Craig Reucassel and Andrew Hansen at the University of Sydney while working on the University newspaper ''Honi Soit''. Brendan Cowell
Brendan Cowell is an Australian actor, playwright, and director. Early life and education Cowell was born in Sydney and grew up in the beachside suburb of Cronulla. He credits his mother and high school drama teacher with encouraging him to explore his creative side. He attended Charles Sturt University in Bathurst to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre/Media. Julius Caesar, the Roman dictator, was assassinated by a group of senators on the Ides of March (15 March) of 44 BC during a meeting of the Senate at the Curia of Pompey of the Theatre of Pompey in Rome where the senators stabbed Caesar 23 times.
