Dead Air Dave
Dead Air Dave was one of several on-air names used by the radio personality who currently calls himself Dylan. He has also broadcast as Nigel, A.B., A.B. Love and Ashok (which is his actual first name). He got his start in the radio business as an intern at WXRK New York in 1994. Dave's first on-air gig was at WPDH (Poughkeepsie). Over the next four years, he moved on to WBHT (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton), WRRV (Middletown), WKRZ (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton) and WDBZ/WNSR/WBIX (New York City). He took the name " Dead Air" Dave when he was hired back as a personality on WXRK New York in September 1998. In March 2002, as part of an agreement that guaranteed him three weekly airshifts, he begrudgingly accepted the position of monitoring The Howard Stern Show for content that then- GM Tom Chiusano feared would incur a fine for indecency by the FCC, and pressing a dump button when questionable content arose. ''Sirius XM Hits 1'' is a Top 40 radio station on Sirius XM Radio channel 2 and Dish Network channels 6002 and 099-02 (099-02 is only for Hopper users). Like most Sirius XM stations, it plays no commercials. The channel was formerly known as US-1 until 2004. The name is a take-off of VH1, whose name was originally an abbreviation of "Video Hits 1". Vh1 Satellite Radio once existed on XM but the channel was discontinued prior to the merger. Following the merger, SiriusXM Hits 1 programming simulcasted on XM 20 On 20 from 9p.m. to noon Eastern for 2 years, where it was announced as ''Sirius XM Hits 1 On 20 on 20''. WNEW-FM (102.7 FM, ''NEW 102.7'') is a hot adult contemporary formatted radio station, licensed to New York, New York and owned by Audacy, Inc. The '90s on 9 (or just The '90s) is the name of Sirius XM Radio's 1990s commercial-free music channel, heard on Sirius XM channel 9 and Dish Network channel 6009. The channel focuses mostly on hit-driven R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, Dance and Techno tracks from the 1990s. Many of the station IDs are spoofs of movies, TV characters, songs and TV commercials that were popular during the '90s. The Pulse is a Sirius XM Radio station that plays music from the 2010s to present-day on channel 5 and Dish Network channel 6005. Every half-hour The Pulse's Jim Ryan or Ron Ross reviews music news on tours, future albums, and other topics covered. The channel debuted on XM Satellite Radio channel 26 and DirecTV channel 818 on April 17, 2006 as Flight 26 in response to demands by former shareholder Clear Channel Communications (who owns the similarly-formatted Mix on channel 22), and was programmed by New York City native Mike Abrams. XM agreed that Clear Channel Communications can add commercials to channels which it already provides programming to, such as KISS, Sunny, and Mix. In response, XM changed their slogan from "100% commercial-free music" to "the most commercial-free music channels on satellite radio".
