DeadCENTER Film Festival
The deadCENTER Film Festival was founded in 2001 in Oklahoma City. The festival was named "deadCENTER" because it is located in the exact center of the United States. Although presenting over a hundred films, and an international assemblage of filmmakers, deadCENTER has remained focused on being open to independent local filmmakers. The festival runs for five days every year in June and has attracted notable actors including Spike Jonze and Rinko Kikuchi. Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City (), officially the City of Oklahoma City, and often shortened to OKC, is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Spike Jonze
Adam H. Spiegel (born October 22, 1969), known professionally as Spike Jonze, is an American filmmaker, actor, musician, and photographer. His work includes commercials, film, music videos, skateboard videos and television. Jonze began his career as a teenager photographing BMX riders and skateboarders for ''Freestylin' Magazine'' and ''Transworld Skateboarding'', and co-founding the youth culture magazine ''Dirt''. Moving into filmmaking, he began shooting street skateboarding films, including the influential ''Video Days'' (1991). Jonze co-founded the skateboard company Girl Skateboards in 1993 with riders Rick Howard and Mike Carroll. Jonze's filmmaking style made him an in-demand director of music videos for much of the 1990s, resulting in collaborations with R.E.M., Sonic Youth, Beastie Boys, Ween, Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, Weezer, Björk, Arcade Fire and Kanye West. Rinko Kikuchi
(born ; January 6, 1981) is a Japanese actress. She was the first Japanese actress to be nominated for an Academy Award in 50 years, for her work in ''Babel'' (2006). Kikuchi's other notable films include '' Norwegian Wood'' (2010), which screened in competition at the 67th Venice Film Festival and Guillermo del Toro's science fiction action film ''Pacific Rim'' (2013). For her role in the drama film ''Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter'' (2014), Kikuchi received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead.
