() is a 1939 Norwegian drama film directed by Leif Sinding, based on a book by Gabriel Scott, that stars Georg Richter and Karin Meyer. Plot Albert (Georg Richter) is placed in an orphanage, where he is treated like a slave. He tries to escape, but is caught. Then a young girl, Gunda (Eva Lunde), appears. Leif Sinding
Leif Sinding (19 November 1895 – 13 May 1985) was a Norwegian film director and journalist. He worked for the newspapers ''Verdens Gang'', ''Aftenposten'', and ''Morgenbladet''. Among his silent films are ''Himmeluret'' from 1925, based on Gabriel Scott's comedy, and ''Fjeldeventyret'' from 1926. He directed the film ''Bra mennesker'' (1937), based on a play by Oskar Braaten, and the films ''De vergeløse'' (1939) and ''Tante Pose'' (1940), both based on novels by Gabriel Scott. In 1941 he directed the comedy '' Kjærlighet og vennskap''. During the German occupation of Norway Sinding collaborated with the Axis forces, was a member of Nasjonal Samling, and was sentenced to four years forced labour after the war. Asbjørn Toms
Asbjørn Toms (20 October 1915 – 2 April 1990) was a Norwegian actor, stage director and playwright. Toms was born in Bodø. He was assigned to the theatre Det Norske Teatret from 1940 to 1986, when he retired. His breakthrough as dramatist was the children's play ''Per Svein og lykkesteinane'' in 1946. He adapted Alf Prøysen's novel ''Trost i taklampa'' for theatre in 1952, which was a great hit with the audience. Among his other stage productions were ''Ole Brumm og vennene hans'' in 1965 and Ingebrigt Davik's ''Taremareby'' in 1966. Harald Steen
Harald Steen (April 2, 1886 – April 18, 1941) was a Norwegian tenor and actor. Steen debuted at the National Theater in Oslo in 1902 and remained there until 1908. He was engaged with the Central Theater from 1908 to 1927. With his spirited mood, smooth characterization, and excellent voice, he was a key actor for much of the theater's repertoire of comedies, operettas, and operas. Per Kvist was the artist name of Vidar Wexelsen (4 April 1890 – 23 May 1947), a Norwegian revue writer, entertainer, stage actor, film actor and children's writer. Personal life Wexelsen was born in Overhalla as a son of vicar, politician and eventually bishop Vilhelm Andreas Wexelsen and Anna Beata Nilssen. He was a cousin of Gunnar Jahn and uncle of Karl Evang. He spent long periods of his childhood in Kristiania, when his father was a member of the Storting and of the government. From 1905 to his death in 1909 his father was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Nidaros in Trondheim. Out of consideration for his well-regarded family he adopted the nom de guerre Per Kvist. Gabriel Scott
Gabriel Scott (8 March 1874 – 9 July 1958) was a Norwegian poet, novelist, playwright and children's writer. Personal life Gabriel Scott Jensen was born in Leith in Scotland as the son of sailors' priest Svend Holst Jensen and his wife writer and composer Caroline Mathilde Schytte. The name Scott was originally a first name, and he was named after both Scotland and the writer Walter Scott. He moved to Norway when he was seven years old, his father being a parish priest in Høvåg. In 1901, Scott married Ellen Johansen (1871–1914), but this marriage was dissolved in 1912. In 1915, he married secondly Dagmar Marie Jensen, but in 1918 this marriage also ended in divorce. Finally, in 1918, he married Birgit Gabrielsen (1897–1981). He died in Arendal in 1958. Tryggve Larssen (October 3, 1887 – June 28, 1967) was a Norwegian actor. Larssen debuted as an actor in Ludovica Levy's touring theatre in 1911, after which he was engaged with the National Theater in Bergen and the Norwegian Theater in Oslo. He was then engaged with the National Theater in Oslo from 1921 to 1961. As an actor specializing in comic roles, Larssen made a name for himself in annual Christmas performances, including as the first-ever Santa Claus in the play '' Reisen til Julestjernen'' (Journey to the Christmas Star) in 1924. He also played supporting roles in numerous plays by Ludvig Holberg, Henrik Ibsen, and William Shakespeare. Larssen performed on stage until well into retirement age, and his last theater role was as Lavrans in the play ''Guds Gjøglere'' by Odd Eidem.
