Grégory Jean-Paul Lemarchal (13 May 1983 – 30 April 2007), known professionally as Grégory Lemarchal, was a French singer who rose to fame by winning the fourth series of the reality television show ''Star Academy'', which was broadcast on the TF1. He died at the age of 23 of health complications (cystic fibrosis) while waiting in hospital for a lung transplant. A posthumous album, '' La Voix d'un ange'', was released with profits going towards the Association Grégory Lemarchal charity. A compilation, ''Rêves'', was released in 2009. ''Rêves'' is a posthumous compilation recorded by French singer Grégory Lemarchal. It was released in November 2009 and contains all his previous singles and some cover versions of various artists, including Céline Dion and Daniel Balavoine, and two unpublished songs, the first two tracks of the album (although Olivier Ottin, the former manager of the singer, had earlier said in an interview with the ''Nouvel Observateur'' that the album would be fully composed of unpublished songs). "Je rêve" is also the first song written by Lemarchal. According to Universal Music website, some rights and benefits from the album's sales will be donated to Grégory Lemarchal association to fight against cystic fibrosis. "Écris l'histoire" is the debut and most successful single from French singer Grégory Lemarchal. It was released in March 2005 in francophone countries as first single from his album ''Je deviens moi'', where it had a great success, particularly in France and Belgium (Wallonia). Background The lyrics were written and the music composed by Francesco de Benedittis and Paul Manners. This song is actually a cover version of that of Italian singer Davide Esposito, "Io so che tu", but with other lyrics in French.
