De Hulk () is a hamlet and nature reserve in the municipalities of Koggenland and Hoorn in the Dutch province of North Holland. Overview De Hulk, which derives its name from a type of ship, is clamped between the villages Scharwoude and Berkhout (Koggenland) and the district Grote Waal Grote is a surname. North Holland
North Holland ( nl, Noord-Holland, ) is a province of the Netherlands in the northwestern part of the country. It is located on the North Sea, north of South Holland and Utrecht, and west of Friesland and Flevoland. In November 2019, it had a population of 2,877,909 and a total area of , of which is water. From the 9th to the 16th century, the area was an integral part of the County of Holland. During this period West Friesland was incorporated. In the 17th and 18th century, the area was part of the province of Holland and commonly known as the Noorderkwartier (English: "Northern Quarter"). Hoorn
Hoorn () is a city and municipality in the northwest of the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is the largest town and the traditional capital of the region of West Friesland. Hoorn is located on the Markermeer, 20 kilometers (12 mi) east of Alkmaar and 35 kilometers (22 mi) north of Amsterdam. The municipality has just over 73,000 inhabitants and a land area of , making it the third most densely populated municipality in North Holland after Haarlem and Amsterdam. Koggenland ( fy, Koggelân) is a municipality in North Holland province and the region of West-Frisia of the Netherlands. It came into existence on 1 January 2007 upon the merger of the two former municipalities of Obdam and Wester-Koggenland. Scharwoude (Koggenland)
Scharwoude is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Koggenland, and lies about 5 km southwest of Hoorn. The village was first mentioned around 1312 as Scaderwoude. The etymology is unclear. Berkhout
Berkhout is a village in the northwest Netherlands. It is in the municipality of Koggenland, North Holland, about west of Hoorn. History The village was first mentioned around 1312 as Berchout, and means "deciduous forest of birch (''Betula'') trees". Berkhout developed in the 13th century as a peat excavation village. The Dutch Reformed church is a T-shaped church in Renaissance Revival style built in 1884. The tower was added in 1886. Berkhout was home to 766 people in 1840. It was an independent municipality until 1979 when it was merged into Wester-Koggenland. In 2007, it became part of the municipality of Koggenland.
