''Dayo: Sa Mundo ng Elementalia'' () also called ''Niko: The Journey to Magika'' in English-speaking countries, is a 2008 Filipino animated adventure-fantasy comedy film and the Philippines' first all-digital full-length animated feature film. Produced by Cutting Edge Productions, the film revolves around Bubuy who has to save his grandparents who were abducted and brought to the strange land called Elementalia, home to a host of strange creatures from Philippine mythology. This $1.3 million (roughly ) production composed of over 500 local animators features a “tra-digital animation” technique using paperless 2D and 3D technologies. It has 2D animation for its characters and 3D animation for the backdrops. The production team of ''Dayo'' spent several months developing the story, mood, and the whole package of the animation. 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 34th Annual 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival started from December 25, 2008 to January 7, 2009. This year marks the return of the Escalera brothers in ''Iskul Bukol 20 Years After (Ungasis and Escaleras Adventure)'' and the hardworking mother, Ina Montecillo in '' Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat''. Compared to last year's nine official entries, however, this year has only eight, all of which are being shown simultaneously during the 10-day run of the film fest. The lineup includes four comedy movies, two dramatic flicks, a horror trilogy and a digital animated film. It is expected to run from December 25, 2008 to January 7, 2009. All official entries are open on Christmas Day. Moymoy Palaboy is a Filipino comic and singing duo known for their uploaded lip sync videos in YouTube. The duo consists of the Macasero brothers, James Ronald (a.k.a. Moymoy, born on July 17, 1983, in Pasay) and Rodfil (a.k.a. Roadfill, born on August 28, 1985, in Pasay). They are now GMA Network contract artists. Maurice Ruiz de Luzuriaga Gallaga (August 25, 1943 – May 7, 2020), better known as Peque Gallaga, was a multi-awarded Filipino people, Filipino film-maker. His most significant achievement in film was ''Oro, Plata, Mata'', which he directed after winning a scriptwriting contest sponsored by the Experimental Cinema of the Philippines. The ''manananggal'' is a mythical creature in the Philippines that separates from their lower part of its body and their fangs and wings give it a vampire-like appearance. Mythology The ''manananggal'' is described as scary, often hideous, usually depicted as female, and always capable of severing its upper torso and sprouting huge bat-like wings to fly into the night in search of its victims. The word ''manananggal'' comes from the Tagalog word ''tanggal'', which means "to remove" or "to separate", which literally translates as "remover" or "separator". In this case, "one who separates itself". The name also originates from an expression used for a severed torso. Aeign Zackrey Nash Victoriano Aguas (; born October 10, 1998), known professionally as Nash Aguas, is a Filipino actor, businessman/entrepreneur, real-estate investor, and politician.
