Dayang (honorific)
{{Unreferenced, date=January 2018 Dayang, abbreviated as Dyg., is a commonly used honorific for the female commoners in Brunei. It is the female equivalent of Awang. Usage Dayang is used in formal situation as a mark of respect for non-royal and non-noble females in Brunei. Generally, it is addressed immediately before the person's given name. If the name includes titles, the order of Dayang is after all of the titles which precede the name. However, this excludes the title Hajah; in this case, Dayang is placed before it. The honorific Dayang is often found with the Malay style Yang Mulia, which is an honorary style also for the commoners. However, they may not be necessarily consecutive; Yang Mulia is always addressed at the beginning of the name system, and this includes preceding any available title. If the person already has Dayang as part of her birth name, it is not required to add this honorific as it will become repetitive. See also * Awang * Yang Mulia Yang may ...

Sema Language
Sama ( tr, Sema, Persian, Urdu and ar, سَمَاع - ''samā‘un'') is a Sufi ceremony performed as part of the meditation and prayer practice dhikr. Sama means "listening", while dhikr means "remembrance".During, J., and R. Sellheim. "Sama" Encyclopedia of Islam, Second Edition. Ed. P. Bearman, T. Bianquis, C. E. Bosworth, E. Van Donzel and W. P. Heinrichs. Brill Online, 2010. These performances often include singing, playing instruments, dancing, recitation of poetry and prayers, wearing symbolic attire, and other rituals. Sama is a particularly popular form of worship in Sufism. In 2008, UNESCO confirmed the "Mevlevi Sama Ceremony" of Turkey as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Etymology The term sama stems from the root-verb meaning ''acceptance by tradition'', from which are derived the words سَمْع (''sam‘un'') and اِسْتِمَاع (''’istimā‘un'', listening), often paired with نَقْل (''naqlun'') and تَقْ ...

Dayang Jingxuan
Dayang Jingxuan (; ) was a Zen Buddhist monk during the early Song Dynasty. During his life, he was apparently the only living teacher representing Caodong/Sōtō school, and he was the last monk of that tradition to be mentioned in the influential ''Transmission of the Lamp'', compiled in 1004. However, as that work was compiled during his lifetime, it lacked biographical information. A biography did not appear until the ''Xudeng lu'' of 1101. He left his birth city to become a monk at Chongxiao Temple in Jinling. His teacher there was named Zhitong, but Dayang soon left when he was 19. He studied with Yuanjiao Liaoyi for a time, but eventually moved on, finally settling on Liangshan Yuanguan as his teacher. Dayang Jingxuan is an important figure in the Caodong/Sōtō Zen lineage because he was apparently the only remaining representative of the Caodong/Sōtō tradition during his lifetime. Furthermore, he is significant because the lineage effectively died out with him, but thro ...

Dayang Island
Dayang Island ( ms, Pulau Dayang) is an island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. It is one of a group of islands along with Pulau Aur, Pulau Lang, and Pulau Pemanggil. The name of the neighbouring island, Pulau Aur, means "bamboo island" in Malay. Both islands have been known to Chinese sailors for centuries. A map from the 17th century identified these islands as East and West Bamboo islands. This is a small island with two resorts available. Being the furthest island in West Malaysia, it takes a while to get to, three to four hours by charter boat from Mersing town. Dayang and Aur islands can be visited from March to November. Travel from December to February is not recommended, when the sea is controlled by the northeast monsoon and navigation from the main coast of Malaysia is generally closed. See also * List of islands of Malaysia A ''list'' is any set of items in a row. List or lists may also refer to: People * List (surname) Organizations * List College, an und ...
