"Day Trip to Bangor (Didn't We Have a Lovely Time)" is a single by the folk group Fiddler's Dram. The novelty song was released in 1979 and peaked at number 3 at the start of 1980. The song was written by Debbie Cook and recorded by the lead singer of the band, Cathy Lesurf. The single was the group's only chart entry in their career, making them one hit wonders. Controversy The release was shrouded in controversy after reports that the song was actually inspired by a trip to Rhyl, another town in North Wales. It was rumoured that Bangor was chosen as the lyric due to it having an extra syllable that flowed better with the song. There were rumours of an outcry among local councillors and businesses in Rhyl about the missed opportunity for tourism which would have been generated. Paul Makin (born 18 December 1947, Marrickville, New South Wales) is a South Australia based television and radio journalist. He started as a cadet journalist at Radio 5KA Adelaide in 1973 joined Radio 2UE Sydney in 1976 before moving to television; he is currently a freelance presenter for Channel 7 Adelaide. St Ives is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia 18 kilometres north of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. ''House of Fools'' is a British comedy television series that was first broadcast on BBC Two on 14 January 2014. The series features Bob Mortimer and Vic Reeves, who are also the writers.
