Dawson McAllister
Dawson McAllister (November 14, 1946 – December 17, 2020) was an American speaker, radio host, and author. He was the host of the radio program ''Dawson McAllister Live'' on Sunday nights from 10:00pm–2:00 am ET, which had an average audience of 500,000 listeners a week. Up until his death, McAllister had developed another version of his call-in show, ''Dawson McAllister Live!'' and a topic-driven podcast. He died December 17, 2020, at Vanderbilt Medical Center after being treated for heart problems. Career: Public Speaking, Writing, and Youth Ministry After his 1968 graduation from Bethel College in Minnesota, McAllister began studies at Talbot School of Theology. During this time, he accepted a position as a part-time youth pastor at Reseda Baptist Church, where he began speaking to teenagers. Mark Matlock (born 1969) was the former executive director of youth specialties and the founder of WisdomWorks Ministries. He is an ordained minister and youth pastor who lives in Dallas. He coauthored the book ''Dirty Faith'' with Audio Adrenaline. He also wrote ''Freshman: The College Student's Guide to Developing Wisdom''. In this book, Matlock gives the following definition for wisdom: "the human capacity to understand life from God's perspective"; in the book ''Lost in Transition: Becoming Spiritually Prepared for College'', Tommy McGregor praised Matlock's definition for recognizing that "true wisdom comes from God." KJYO (102.7 FM), known as "KJ103", is a Top 40 (CHR) radio station serving the Oklahoma City area owned by iHeartMedia. Its transmitter is in Northeast Oklahoma City, and its studios are located at the 50 Penn Place building on the Northwest side. History The station began broadcasting April 8, 1961, as KJEM-FM, sister to KJEM (800 AM), and adopted an adult standards format. Studios were located where the Oklahoma City Federal Building (Murrah Building) once stood. It changed calls in 1972 to KAFG and ran an automated oldies format.
