Dawn At Socorro
''Dawn at Socorro'' is a 1954 American Western film directed by George Sherman and starring Rory Calhoun and Piper Laurie. It was produced and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film is set mostly in Lordsburg, New Mexico, and the spoken introduction says the story is based on an actual shootout in the town in 1871. But no such incident happened there. The plot is actually a thinly veiled fictionalization of the famous 1881 shootout near the OK Corral in Tombstone, Arizona, which pitted the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday against the Clanton Gang. Plot A retired gunfighter (Rory Calhoun) and a saloonkeeper ( David Brian) play cards, with the saloon and a dance-hall girl (Piper Laurie) at stake. George Sherman
George Sherman (July 14, 1908 – March 15, 1991) was an American film director and producer of low-budget Western films. One obituary said his "credits rival in number those of anyone in the entertainment industry." Biography George Sherman was born in New York City on July 14, 1908. At age 14 he sailed aboard the SS ''Mongolia'' to Los Angeles, California, where he found work in the mail room at Warner Bros. studios via a film editor friend. George Vincent Homeier (October 5, 1930 – June 25, 2017), known professionally as Skip Homeier, was an American actor who started his career at the age of eleven and became a child star. Career Child actor Homeier was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 5, 1930. He began to act for radio shows at the age of six as Skippy Homeier. At the age of 11, he worked on the radio show '' Portia Faces Life'' as well as making "dramatic commercial announcements" on '' The O'Neills'' and '' Against the Storm''. Forrest Taylor
Edwin Forrest Taylor (December 29, 1883 – February 19, 1965) was an American character actor whose artistic career spanned six different decades, from silents through talkies to the advent of color films. Early years Taylor was born in Bloomington, Illinois. His father managed the Dreamland Theatre in Kewanee, Illinois, and a news item in 1916 reported, "Manager Chris Taylor of Dreamland at Kewanee features his son, E.
