Davide Labate
Davide Labate (born 18 April 1972) is an Italian journalist from 1993 and alpine skiing commentator, broadcasting for Rai Sport from 2009. Biography A native of Messina, in the summer he returns to his Torre Faro, a seaside village near the Ganzirri Lake. In 2013 some members of the Italian national ski team, in Sicily for a dry training period in the summer, were guests at his home, among these Manfred Moelgg, Florian Eisath, Roberto Nani, Luca De Aliprandini, Dominik Paris, Werner Heel, Silvano Varettoni and Mattia Casse. Messina
Messina (, also , ) is a harbour city and the capital of the Italian Metropolitan City of Messina. Mattia Casse (born 19 February 1990) is an Italian World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in Moncalieri in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy, he specializes in the speed events (Downhill and Super-G) and has competed in four World Championships. Career The son of the ski racer and trainer Alessandro, Casse made his World Cup debut on 29 December 2009 in a downhill at Bormio, just missing out on points in 31st place. Max Blardone
Massimiliano "Max" Blardone (born 26 November 1979) is a retired World Cup alpine ski racer from Italy. He specialized in the discipline of giant slalom. Since 2016 he has been a sports commentator for RAI. Biography Born in Domodossola in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy, Blardone made his World Cup debut at Sölden, Austria, in October 2000. He made his first World Cup podium in 2004 and his first victory came in 2005. Blardone won seven World Cup races and attained 25 podiums, all in giant slalom. He finished second in the giant slalom season standings in 2006 and 2007, and third in 2004. Blardone represented Italy in three Olympics and six world championships. 2019–20 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup
The International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup, the premier circuit for alpine skiing competition, began in January 1967, and the season marked the 54th consecutive year for the FIS World Cup. As it had every year since 2006 (when the Sölden races were cancelled by a snowstorm), the season began in Sölden, Austria in October. The season was supposed to end with the World Cup finals in March, which were to be held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy for the first time since they began in 1993, but the finals were cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy. As part of an effort to control the expansion of the World Cup circuit while fighting increased specialization, the city events were dropped this season, to be replaced by more parallel events at regular venues, while the Alpine combined was expanded. Paolo De Chiesa
Paolo De Chiesa (born March 14, 1956) is an Italian journalist and former alpine skier who competed in the 1980 Winter Olympics and in the 1984 Winter Olympics. De Chiesa has been a technical commentator for RAI in ski races for several years. Biography He was born in Saluzzo, Piedmont. De Chiesa competed in two Olympic slalom events but was not able to finish one of these races. He also scored several podium placements in the Alpine Skiing World Cup. Journalistic career After retiring from competitions, he devoted himself to journalism, first in Telemontecarlo and then as a contributor to various specialized magazines. The International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup was the premier circuit for alpine skiing competition. The inaugural season launched in January 1967, and the season marks the 53rd consecutive year for the FIS World Cup. This season began in October 2018 in Sölden, Austria, and concluded in mid-March 2019 at the finals in Soldeu, Andorra. The biennial World Championships interrupted the tour in early February in Åre, Sweden. During the season, the most successful female skier of all time, four-time overall World Cup champion Lindsey Vonn of the United States, retired after the World Championships, at which she won a bronze medal in downhill.
