The David di Donatello for Best Sound ( it, David di Donatello per il miglior suono) is a film award presented annually by the Accademia del Cinema Italiano (ACI, ''Academy of Italian Cinema'') to recognize outstanding efforts on the part of sound technicians who have worked within the Italian film industry during the year preceding the ceremony. Born in the 1988 edition of the David di Donatello award show as David di Donatello for Best Sound Engineer, from the 2017 edition onward, it has been called David di Donatello for Best Sound in order to recognize all sound technicians. The Accademia del Cinema Italiano ( en, Academy of Italian Cinema) is an organization that gives out the David di Donatello Awards. It was founded in 1955 as a part of the Open Gate Club, originally with the name ''Ente David di Donatello''. The organization became independent in 1963. In 2007 it assumed its current name. ''The Star Maker'' ( it, L'uomo delle stelle) is a 1995 Italian film. It was produced by Rita Cecchi Gori, Vittorio Cecchi Gori, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, while the title role was played by Sergio Castellitto. It won the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Plot In 1953, Joe Morelli is traveling rural Sicily, offering to take screen tests of wannabe actors for a fee. He claims to work for big Roman film studios, but in reality he is a fraud.
