David Wilson (artist)
David Wilson (4 July 1872 – 2 January 1935) was an Irish illustrator and painter. Life and family David Ernest Wilson was born on 4 July 1872 at Minterburn Manse, County Tyrone. His father was Reverend A.J. Wilson, and he had at least two older brothers. In 1883, the family moved to Belfast when his father moved to take up ministry of the Malone Road, Malone Presbyterian Church. Wilson attended the Royal Belfast Academical Institution, and later took drawing classes in the evening at the Government School of Design while he worked at the Danske Bank (Northern Ireland), Northern Bank. He was a member of the Belfast Art Society. He married Edith Mary Mageean in 1899, and the couple moved to London, where Wilson enrolled at the Sphinx Studio. They had two children, a son James born in 1900, and a daughter, Edith born in 1908. His wife suffered from alcoholism, and died in 1913. Wilson remarried in 1915, to Frances Winifred James. David Wilson (May 25, 1858 – December 6, 1927) was an Irish-born rancher, financial agent and political figure in Manitoba. He represented Gladstone from 1903 to 1907 in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Conservative. Background Born in Limerick, the son of Reverend David Wilson, Wilson was educated at Switzers and Weir's College and was a member of the Corn Exchange in London from 1879 to 1883. Soldier Wilson
David "Soldier" Wilson (23 July 1883 – 27 October 1906) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward. Born in Hebburn, he earned his nickname as a teenager while serving with the Cameron Highlanders and the 1st Battalion, Black Watch. He also served in South Africa during the Boer War. Wilson began his footballing career in Scotland with Raith Rovers. He left the Army to play professional football with Scottish Football League Division One side Dundee and later had a spell with Edinburgh club Heart of Midlothian. At the start of the 1905–06 season, Wilson moved to England to join Football League Second Division side Hull City. David Sloan Wilson (born 1949) is an American evolutionary biologist and a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences and Anthropology at Binghamton University. David Gordon Wilson
David Gordon Wilson (11 February 1928 – 2 May 2019) was a British-born engineer who served as a professor of engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States. Born in Warwickshire, England, Wilson went to the US on a post-doctoral fellowship in 1955. He returned to Britain in 1957 to work in the gas-turbine industry. He taught engineering in Nigeria from 1958 to 1960. He started a branch of a US company in London and in 1961 was moved to the US. In 1966 he joined the MIT faculty and taught engineering design, wrote two textbooks on his specialty gas-turbine design with co-authors and also pursued a long-standing interest into human-powered transport, coauthoring ''Bicycling Science''.
