David Wilcox (Canadian Musician)
David Karl William Wilcox (born July 13, 1949) is a Canadian rock musician. Early life Born in Montreal, Wilcox drew inspiration from musician Elvis Presley at the age of six. Wilcox soon picked up the guitar and began playing, having his first live performance (to a room of ex-convicts) at fourteen years old. Career In 1970, Wilcox replaced Amos Garrett in Ian and Sylvia Tyson’s band, Great Speckled Bird, playing backup for acts such as Anne Murray, Carl Perkins, and Charlie Rich. In 1973, after two records, Wilcox left the band to go solo. In his first band, David Wilcox and the Teddy Bears, Wilcox hit local stages as a flashy character with an oversized waxed moustache, a baggy suit and a flower in his lapel. David Wilcox's debut album, a solo album called ''Out of the Woods'', was released in 1977. David Wilcox (American Musician)
David Patrick Wilcox (born March 9, 1958) is an American folk musician and singer-songwriter guitarist. He has been active in the music business since the late 1980s. Career Wilcox was born in Mentor, Ohio, and attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio in 1976, where he began learning guitar. He later transferred to Warren Wilson College in North Carolina in 1981 and graduated in 1985. Wilcox appeared regularly at a Black Mountain, North Carolina nightclub called McDibbs. His debut album ''The Nightshift Watchman'' was released in 1987 on Jerry Read Smith's label, Song of the Woods, and was reissued in 1996. He began touring regularly. After performing at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, he signed with A&M Records in 1989. He made several albums with this label. His albums were described by one ''Rolling Stone'' critic as "unjustly neglected". After his contract with A&M expired in 1994, Wilcox continued to write songs, tour and release albums. Triple 8 (a.k.a. 888) were a five-piece then four-piece British boy band, who were signed to Polydor Records and Osmosis Records. The group were promoted as the British equivalent of NSYNC, and rivals to manufactured boy bands such as Westlife and A1. The group had three successful singles: "Knockout" " Give Me a Reason" " Good 2 Go", which charted at number 8,9 & 2 (independent chart) respectively in the UK Singles Chart. The group parted company with their record label polydor in 2003, leaving their album, ''Heavy W8'', unreleased. In 2004, they reformed with new member Stewart Macintosh, and released a third single, "Good 2 Go", which reached number 2 UK Indie chart. McIntosh replaced Iain James Farquharson. The Delaware and Hudson Railway (D&H) is a railroad that operates in the Northeastern United States. In 1991, after more than 150 years as an independent railroad, the D&H was purchased by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP). CP operates D&H under its subsidiary Soo Line Corporation which also operates Soo Line Railroad. D&H's name originates from the 1823 New York state corporation charter listing "The President, Managers and Company of the Delaware & Hudson Canal Co." authorizing an establishment of "water communication" between the Delaware River and the Hudson River. Nicknamed "The Bridge Line to New England and Canada," D&H connected New York with Montreal, Quebec and New England. David Peter Wilcox (born 29 June 1930) is a retired British Anglican bishop. He was the Bishop of Dorking, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Guildford. Early life and education Wilcox was educated at Northampton Grammar School and St John's College, Oxford. He married Pamela Hedges in 1956 and they had two sons and two daughters. David Wilcox (born September 29, 1942) is a retired professional football player, a linebacker with the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League from 1964 through 1974. Wilcox was selected to play for seven Pro Bowls and was named All-NFL five times during his career.
