David Walsh is an American psychologist, educator, and author specializing in parenting, family life and the impact of media on children and teens. Walsh was the president and founder of the National Institute on Media and the Family based in Minneapolis until it closed its doors in 2009. All of the programs and products of the National Institute on Media and the Family have been transferred to the Search Institute. Walsh has written ten books including the best seller ''Why Do They Act That Way? A Survival Guide to the Adolescent Brain for You and Your Teen'' and ''No, Why Kids - of All Ages - Need to Hear It and Ways Parents Can Say It.'' In 2010, he and his wife, Monica, and daughter, Erin, launched Mind Positive Parenting, which translates brain science into resources for parents and professionals. David Walsh (11 August 1945 – 4 June 1998) was a Canadian businessman in the oil and gas and mining industries. Biography Walsh was founder and CEO of the Canadian mining company Bre-X, which was involved in one of the largest stock market scandals in Canadian history. Although Walsh had been oblivious to or dismissive of warning signs before the outbreak of the scandal, he called in RCMP investigators once the fraud was identified, and assisted the RCMP in their criminal investigation. Before the Bre-X fraud, Walsh had run several successful oil and gas companies with properties throughout the United States and Canada and had been a stock broker, trust company officer, and portfolio manager. David Joseph Walsh (born 17 June 1955) is an Irish sports journalist and chief sports writer for the British newspaper ''The Sunday Times''. He is a four-time Irish Sportswriter of the Year and a three-time UK Sportswriter of the Year. Walsh was the key journalist in uncovering the doping program by Lance Armstrong and the US Postal Service Cycling Team, leading to a lifetime ban from cycling for Armstrong and being stripped of his seven Tour titles. David Robert Walsh (born 17 December 1946, Bombay, Maharashtra, India) is a former English first-class cricketer and current cricket administrator. He is also a historian. Education Walsh was educated at Marlborough College, where he captained the First XI in 1965 and played in the annual match for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Schools XI against Combined Services at Lord's. He went up to Brasenose College, Oxford University. Cricket career A middle-order batsman, Walsh made his first-class debut for Oxford University in 1966, scoring 56 against Hampshire in his second match, but was unable to maintain his form and lost his place in the side.
