David Turin
David Edmund Turin (born 8 September 1965), known as Emit Bloch, is an American songwriter and musician. Background Emit Bloch is a singer, songwriter and musician known for field recordings and lo-fi music production. His parents are George L. Turin, a professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley, and Helen Elizabeth Turin, the daughter of a Utah cattle rancher. Bloch was raised in Berkeley, California, as well as Layton, Utah, and is related to Christopher Layton, a prominent 19th Century Mormon pioneer. The People Tree Sessions
''The Peopletree Sessions'' is an electronic/folk rock album by Milla Jovovich recorded in 1998 during several late night sessions at producer Emit Bloch's apartment in Los Angeles. Background "The Peopletree Sessions" was originally issued on Bloch's People Tree Recordings label, from which it derives its name. Shortly after its original issuance, Jovovich and Turin publicly disagreed about the releases' legitimacy. Jovovich, who was filming '' The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc'' at the time, attempted to quell the spread of the release over the Internet while Bloch argued for its artistic merit. Legal action was never taken and Cherry Red Records has reissued the remastered CD version of the sessions. There are two versions released of the album. The Dust Brothers
The Dust Brothers are a pair of songwriters and producers consisting of E.Z. Mike ( Michael Simpson) and King Gizmo ( John King). They are famous for the sample-based music they produced in the 1980s and 1990s, and specifically for their work on the albums ''Paul's Boutique'' by the Beastie Boys, ''Odelay'', ''Midnite Vultures'' and ''Guero'' by Beck, the soundtrack to the film ''Fight Club'', and "MMMBop" by Hanson. Higher Octave Music is a sub-label imprint of Narada Productions. Since 2013, it is part of Universal Music Group's Capitol Music Group, which is located in Los Angeles. History Higher Octave was acquired by Virgin Records on behalf of EMI in 1997. Nels Cline
Nels Courtney Cline (born January 4, 1956) is an American guitarist and composer. He has been the guitarist for the band Wilco since 2004. In the 1980s he played jazz, often in collaboration with his twin brother Alex Cline, Alex, a percussionist. He has worked with musicians in punk rock, punk and alternative rock such as Carla Bozulich and the Geraldine Fibbers, Mike Watt and Thurston Moore. Wilco
Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar's departure. Wilco's lineup changed frequently during its first decade, with only singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt remaining from the original incarnation. Mark Ramos Nishita (born February 10, 1960), known professionally as Money Mark, is an American producer and musician, best known for his collaborations with the Beastie Boys from 1992 until 2011. Early life Born in Detroit to a Japanese-Hawaiian father and a Chicano mother, Nishita moved with his family to Los Angeles, California when he was six. Career His first album ''Mark's Keyboard Repair'' (1995), was made up of keyboard driven pop-funk songs recorded at demo quality. Beastie Boys
Beastie Boys were an American rap rock group from New York City, formed in 1978. The group was composed of Mike D, Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums), Adam Yauch, Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass), and Ad-Rock, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitar, Programming (music), programming). Beastie Boys were formed out of members of experimental hardcore punk band the Young Aborigines in 1978, with Diamond as vocalist, Jeremy Shatan on bass guitar, John Berry (Beastie Boys), John Berry on guitar, and Kate Schellenbach on drums. Michael David Watt (born December 20, 1957) is an American bassist, vocalist and songwriter. Watt co-founded and played bass guitar for the rock bands Minutemen (1980–1985), Dos (1985–present), and Firehose (1986–1994). He began a solo career with the 1994 album ''Ball-Hog or Tugboat?'', he has since released three additional solo albums, most recently in 2010 with ''Hyphenated-man''. Minutemen were an American punk rock band formed in San Pedro, California, in 1980. Composed of guitarist/vocalist D. Stephen Perkins
Stephen Andrew Perkins (September 13, 1967) is an American musician and songwriter. A drummer and percussionist, he currently plays with Jane's Addiction and Hellride. Following the dissolution of Jane's Addiction, Perkins continued to play with frontman Perry Farrell in the rock band Porno for Pyros. He also has a solo project called Banyan, and in the 1990s was involved in Lil' Pit with Mike Watt.
