David Spiller (politician)
David Lee Spiller (born February 4, 1961) is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the Texas House of Representatives from the 68th district. He was elected in a March 9, 2021 special election. Early life and education Spiller was born and raised in Jacksboro, Texas, where he graduated from Jacksboro High School. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law. Career Since graduating from law school, Spiller has owned and operated Spiller & Spiller with his brother and two sons. Spiller has also served as Jacksboro City Attorney and general counsel for the Jack County, Texas Hospital District. Spiller also owns the Spiller Oil & Gas Company and Spiller Bonding Company. Drew Alan Springer Jr. (born October 27, 1966) is an American businessman and politician serving as a Republican member of the Texas Senate who represents District 30. Education Springer graduated from Weatherford High School in 1985. He then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of North Texas. Career A businessman, Springer is a former controller of a railcar company. He thereafter was a manager of three companies with a total of more than 1,000 employees. In 2005, he joined his father in business in the financial services industry. Springer was first elected in 2012 when the incumbent Republican, Rick Hardcastle of Vernon, stepped down after fourteen years in office because of multiple sclerosis. Jacksboro is a city in Jack County, Texas, in the United States. Its population was 4,511 at the 2010 census. U.S. Highways 281 and 380, and Texas State Highways 114 and 199 intersect at Jacksboro, which is the county seat of Jack County. History Jacksboro was first settled in the 1850s, with newcomers attracted by land offers from the Texas Emigration and Land Office. Originally called "Mesquiteville", the community grew up along the banks of Lost Creek and spread out over the pastureland between Lost Creek and the waters of the West Fork of Keechi Creek. It was renamed "Jacksboro" in 1858, when it became the county seat, in honor of brothers William and Patrick Jack, veterans of the Texas Revolution. Regular postal service began in 1859.
