David Rimmer
__NOTOC__ David Rimmer (20 January 1942 – 26 January 2023) was a Canadian experimental filmmaker and university instructor. His works came to prominence in the Underground Film community in the 1970s. In 2011, he was awarded a Governor General's award for his lifetime achievements in the arts. Biography Rimmer was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and studied economics and mathematics at the University of British Columbia (UBC), before graduating in 1963. For the next two years he traveled around the world, which led him to decide that he was not interested in pursuing a career in business. Returning to Canada in 1965, he did a make-up year at the UBC to receive a degree in English. In 1967 he took a short filmmaking course from Stan Fox, a producer at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). Storm Bay through a smoky haze Storm Bay is found in the Sechelt Inlet of the Pacific Ocean, near the mouth of Narrows Inlet. It is accessible by boat or seaplane. Since the mid-1960s, the location has been home to a number of notable artists. Ecology Storm Bay is in the Coastal Douglas-fir Biogeoclimactic Zone of British Columbia, which consists of wet, mossy, dense temperate rain forests. History shíshálh nation Storm Bay has been inhabited by the shíshálh (or Sechelt) nation, specifically the téwánkw sub-group of ?álhtulich, stl'ixwim, and skúpa (Sechelt, Narrows, and Salmon Inlets), for around eight millennia. Sylvia Spring (born July 14, 1942) is a Canadian feminist writer, filmmaker and activist. In 1970, she made ''Madeleine Is ...'', the first Canadian English-language feature film directed by a woman.
