David Parkinson (drummer)
Christian Death is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles County, California, in 1979 by Rozz Williams. With major line-up changes over the years, Christian Death has retained "a relentlessly confrontational stand against organized religion and conventional morality". Williams was eventually joined by guitarist Rikk Agnew of the band Adolescents, James McGearty on bass guitar and George Belanger on drums. This line-up was responsible for producing the band's best known work, their 1982 debut album ''Only Theatre of Pain'', which was highly influential in the development of the style of music known as deathrock, as well as on the American gothic scene which also produced bands such as Kommunity FK and 45 Grave. Maitri Nicolai, known under her stage name Maitri is a Dutch musician. Work Maitri is best known as the bassist, song writer, and female vocalist of the gothic rock band Christian Death. She joined the band in 1991, taking to the stage for her first performance at the Contemporary Festival, held at the Anfitheatro delle Cascine in Florence, Italy, on 12 July 1991. Maitri made her studio debut on the compilation album ''Jesus Points the Bone at You'', performing on the new version of the track "The Nascent Virion", recorded especially for that collection. Mephisto Walz are an American rock band formed in 1985. The band's discography includes many full-length albums spanning nearly three decades, through Cleopatra Records and other labels. History Bari-Bari's signature songwriting style and distinctive wall of chorus/delay-effected guitar sound makes Mephisto Walz instantly identifiable amongst other pioneers of Gothic rock. ''Only Theatre of Pain'' is the first studio album by the American rock band Christian Death, released on March 24, 1982, by the Frontier record label. It is considered by most critics to be the harbinger of the deathrock style of music, as well as being highly influential on the American gothic music scene. Adolescents (band)
The Adolescents are an American punk rock band formed in Fullerton, California in 1980. Part of the hardcore punk movement in southern California in the early 1980s, they were one of the main punk acts to emerge from Orange County, along with their peers in Agent Orange and Social Distortion. Founding bassist Steve Soto was the sole constant member of the band since its inception until his 2018 death, with singer Tony Reflex being in the group for all but one album. During the 1980s the band went through several lineup changes, breakups, and reunions, most involving drummer Casey Royer and guitarist brothers Rikk, Frank, and Alfie Agnew. William Faith (born August 28, 1967) is an American goth/punk musician. He is a former member of the gothic bands Rozz Williams' Christian Death, Shadow Project, Mephisto Walz and briefly as support for Sex Gang Children during a one-off performance in 1993 at The Roxy Theatre. Faith was a founding member of the goth-punk band Wreckage (where he was known as Bill E. Bones), as well as anarcho-punk collective Anima Mundi. Faith is perhaps best known as a founding member of Faith and the Muse. A longtime member of the Los Angeles gothic rock and punk scene, Faith has also produced records for a range of artists. His younger sister, Cynthia Coulter, is a member of the bands Mercury's Antennae, This Ascension, and was also a touring member of Faith and the Muse. His music has encompassed a number of styles, including hardcore punk, death rock, and metal. He is the frontman of the metal band Amen. Early life Karim Chmielinski was born in New York. Rozz Williams (born Roger Alan Painter; November 6, 1963 – April 1, 1998) was an American singer and songwriter known for his work with the bands Christian Death, Shadow Project (with musician Eva O), and the industrial project Premature Ejaculation. Christian Death is cited by some as a pioneer of the American gothic rock scene as well as deathrock, and is considered to be one of the most influential figures of the scene. However, Williams disliked the "goth" label and actively worked to shed it during the 1980s and 1990s by focusing on punk rock, hard rock, cabaret, and spoken word music.
