David Miramant
David Miramant (born May 22, 1955) is an American Democratic politician and pilot from Maine. He represents Senate District 12, Knox County, in the Maine Senate. Miramant served in the Maine House of Representatives from 2006-2008 and was first elected to the Senate in 2014. Miramant is a career pilot: He flew commercial Boeing 767s at Delta Air Lines and has owned and operated a glider ride service on coastal Maine since 2005. Early life and education Miramant's father served in the Air Force and the family traveled frequently when Miramant was a child. He attended Bedford High School outside of Boston from 1969-1973 and became active politically during the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War. Miramant attended the University of Maine at Farmington from 1975-1980 and completed a Bachelor of Arts in biology. Edward Mazurek
Edward 'Coach' J. Mazurek (December 21, 1938 – October 4, 2017) was an American schoolteacher and politician from Maine. Mazurek served as a Democratic State Senator from Maine's 22nd District, representing much of Knox County, including Thomaston and his residence in Rockland. Sports Mazurek was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut. At the age of 13, Mazurek won the 1951 Little League World Series with his fellow Stamford residents over Austin, Texas. Mazurek attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he played with the Musketeers football team and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. A defensive tackle, Mazurek was drafted by three teams in 1960: the Boston Patriots in the American Football League (AFL), the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). Owls Head, Maine
Owls Head is a town in Knox County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,504 at the 2020 census. A resort and fishing area, the community is home to the Knox County Regional Airport. It includes the village of Ash Point. History When Samuel de Champlain explored Owl's Head in 1605, the Abenaki Indians called it Bedabedec Point, meaning "Cape of the Winds." Mariners would name it for the shape of the promontory, which they thought resembled the head of an owl. First incorporated as part of Thomaston in 1777, and then as part of South Thomaston in 1848, Owls Head was itself set off and incorporated on July 9, 1921. The town is home to both the Owls Head Light Station, a tall granite lighthouse built in 1826 to mark the southern entrance of Rockland Harbor, and to the Owls Head Transportation Museum. Rector served as a Republican State Senator from Maine's 22nd District, representing much of Knox County, including Rockland and his residence in Thomaston. The pilot in command (PIC) of an aircraft is the person aboard the aircraft who is ultimately responsible for its operation and safety during flight. This would be the captain in a typical two- or three-pilot aircrew, or "pilot" if there is only one certificated and qualified pilot at the controls of an aircraft. The airline transport pilot license (ATPL), or in the United States of America, an airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate is the highest level of aircraft pilot certificate.
