David Lynch's Unrealized Projects
The following is a list of unproduced David Lynch projects in roughly chronological order. During his long career, American film director David Lynch has worked on a number of projects which never progressed beyond the pre-production stage under his direction. Some of these projects fell into development hell or were officially cancelled. 1970s ''Gardenback'' Before starting work on '' Eraserhead'', he worked on a script titled ''Gardenback'', based on his painting of a hunched figure with vegetation growing from its back. ''Gardenback'' was a surrealist script about adultery, featuring a continually growing insect that represented one man's lust for his neighbor. He presented the script to the AFI, but they rejected it as they felt the planned 45-minute runtime was too long for such a figurative, nonlinear script. Van Nuys
Van Nuys () is a neighborhood in the central San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California. Home to Van Nuys Airport and the Valley Municipal Building, it is the most populous neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. History In 1909, the Suburban Homes Company – a syndicate led by Hobart Johnstone Whitley, general manager of the board of control, along with Harry Chandler, H. G. Otis, M. H. Sherman and O. F. Brandt – purchased 48,000 acres of the Farming and Milling Company for $2.5 million. Henry E. Huntington extended his Pacific Electric Railway (Red Cars) through the Valley to Owensmouth (now Canoga Park). Robert Engels
Robert Engels (born 1949) is an American born writer, producer, and director as well as being a professor of screenwriting at Cal State Fullerton. Biography He graduated from Saint John's Preparatory School in Collegeville, Minn. in 1967. He wrote several episodes of and produced ''Twin Peaks'' and also co-wrote the 1992 film '' Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me''. He is also credited with writing and producing several other television series, such as '' seaQuest DSV'' and Gene Roddenberry's '' Andromeda''. In 1993, he was nominated (with David Lynch) for a Saturn Award for best writing, for his work on ''Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me''. Mulholland Drive (film)
''Mulholland Drive'' (stylized as ''Mulholland Dr.'') is a 2001 surrealist neo-noir mystery film written and directed by David Lynch and starring Naomi Watts, Laura Harring, Justin Theroux, Ann Miller, Mark Pellegrino, and Robert Forster. It tells the story of an aspiring actress named Betty Elms (Watts), newly arrived in Los Angeles, who meets and befriends an amnesiac woman (Harring) recovering from a car accident. The story follows several other vignettes and characters, including a Hollywood film director (Theroux). The American-French co-production was originally conceived as a television pilot, and a large portion of the film was shot in 1999 with Lynch's plan to keep it open-ended for a potential series. Sherilyn Fenn (born Sheryl Ann Fenn; February 1, 1965) is an American actress and author.
