David Stuart Lumsden (11 December 1877 – 14 May 1961) was a Cape Colony cricketer. He played in eleven first-class matches for Eastern Province between 1903/04 and 1909/10. David Lumsden (musician)
Sir David James Lumsden (born 19 March 1928) is a musical educator, choirmaster, organist and harpsichordist. After studying music at Cambridge he was a church organist, and later an academic. He was principal of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow from 1976 to 1982 and of the Royal Academy of Music in London from 1982 to 1993. David Gordon Allen d'Aldecamb Lumsden of Cusehnie, FSAL, FSAS (25 May 1933, in Quetta, Baluchistan, Empire of India (now Pakistan) – 29 August 2008, in Fort William, Scotland) was a Scottish businessman, nationalist and sometime Baron of Cushnie-Lumsden (in Aberdeen). The son of Henry Gordon Strange Lumsden and Sydney Mary Elliot, he studied at Allhallows, Devon; Bedford School; and Jesus College, Cambridge ( MA). He served in the Territorial Army with the London Scottish. Career He worked as an executive at British American Tobacco from 1959 until his retirement in 1982. He was the Director of Heritage Porcelain Ltd. and Heritage Recordings Ltd. Nocturnal Submissions
''Nocturnal Submissions'' was an Australian literary periodical, based in Melbourne, which appeared sporadically and ran from 1991 to 1999. It was founded by David Lumsden and later edited by the novelist Maria Hyland. Seamus Heaney — in the blurb on the back of issue 6 — said "''Nocturnal Submissions'' is a handsome magazine, solid and worthwhile." Authors whose work appeared in the periodical included Billy Collins, Peter Carey, Steve Kilbey, August Kleinzahler, Chris Wallace-Crabbe, John F. Deane and Alan Wearne. It was one of the first magazines to publish work by Peter Bakowski. Issue #1 The material for the first issue was gathered in late 1989 but the issue was not published until 'Autumn' 1991 (which in Australia means the months March to May). The aim stated in the 'Editorial Note' was to present writing that would 'work both in performance and on the page'.
