David Llewellyn (Australian Politician)
David Edward Llewellyn AM (born 16 August 1942 in St Marys, Tasmania) is an Australian politician, who was a Labor Party member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 1986 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2018. Political career Llewellyn was elected to the Tasmanian House of Assembly for the seat of Lyons at the 1986 state election which was won by the Liberal Party under Robin Gray. Labor formed a minority government with the support of the Green Independents under the Labor–Green Accord in 1989, and Llewellyn joined Michael Field's inaugural cabinet as Minister for Primary Industry and Forests. Llewellyn would hold the Primary Industries, Water and Energy portfolios on several other occasions, from 1998 to 2002 and 2006 to 2008. From 2002 to 2006, he was Paul Lennon's Deputy Premier. Sir David Treharne Llewellyn (17 January 1916 – 9 August 1992), was a British Conservative politician and junior minister. Llewellyn was the third son of the Welsh industrialist Sir David Llewellyn, 1st Baronet. Sir Rhys and Sir Harry Llewellyn were his elder brothers. He sat as Member of Parliament for Cardiff North from 1950 to 1959 and served under Winston Churchill as Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department from 1951 to 1952. David Llewellyn (born 1978), is a Welsh novelist and script writer. He grew up in Pontypool and graduated from Dartington College of Arts in 2000. His first novel, ''Eleven'', was published by Seren Press in 2006. His second, '' Trace Memory'', a spin-off from the BBC drama series ''Torchwood'', was published in March 2008. ''Everything Is Sinister'' was published by Seren in May 2008, ''Ibrahim & Reenie'' in 2013 and ''A Simple Scale'' in 2018. ''A Simple Scale'' was shortlisted for the 2019 Polari Prize. He has written two novels for the ''Doctor Who'' New Series Adventures: '' The Taking of Chelsea 426'', featuring the Tenth Doctor, and ''Night of the Humans'', featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond. David Llewellyn (golfer)
David John Llewellyn (born 18 November 1951) is a Welsh professional golfer. Llewellyn played on the European Tour in the 1970s after being named the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year in 1971. He achieved a personal best ranking of 39th on the Order or Merit in 1974, but did not win any tournaments in this period. After a spell as a club professional at Craythorne Golf Centre (1975–78), Royal Malta Golf Club (1978–81) and Thirsk and Northallerton Golf Club (1982–84), he returned to tournament golf in 1984, and collected several tournament victories during the following years. His sole win on the main European Tour was the 1988 AGF Biarritz Open, when he set a tour record four round total of 258. The scoring record was tied by Llewellyn's countryman Ian Woosnam in 1990 and not beaten until more than 32 years later, when Andy Sullivan scored 257 at the 2020 English Championship. David Rolfe Llewellyn (8 June 1907 – 21 October 1981) was a Welsh miner, trade unionist, and political activist, who also fought in the Spanish Civil War. Llewellyn was born in Blaengarw, a remote mining village in South Wales, to Thomas Llewellyn, a coal miner, and his wife, Mary Ann.''1911 Wales Census'' He began working at a local colliery when he was sixteen, and became active in the South Wales Miners' Federation (SWMF), and also in the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB). In 1936, Llewellyn took part in a hunger march of Welsh miners to London, and was elected as one of the leaders of the marchers. He next volunteered to fight for the Republicans in the Spanish Civil War, and was elected as a political commissar. Back in South Wales, Llewellyn returned to mining, and in 1940 he moved a CPGB resolution at the SWMF's annual conference, opposing British involvement in World War II.
