David Lemoine
David George Lemoine (born May 25, 1957) is an American politician from Maine. Lemoine, a Democrat served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1998 to 2004 prior to serving as the State Treasurer of Maine from 2005 to 2010. Career Lemoine was born in Waterville, Maine to Margaret Hatch Marden and George Macalease Lemoine. His mother was the daughter of a potato farmer in Freedom, Maine and his father was a Waterville native and Korean War veteran. He grew up in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School prior to attending Colby College. At Colby, he majored in government. After graduating, he interned with Senator Edmund Muskie's office in Washington, D.C. and worked for the Senate Sergeant at Arms Office until Muskie became United States Secretary of State. He then served on George J. Mitchell's staff. Maine House Of Representatives
The Maine House of Representatives is the lower house of the Maine Legislature. The House consists of 151 voting members and three nonvoting members. The voting members represent an equal number of districts across the state and are elected via plurality voting. The nonvoting members represent three of Maine's Native American tribes, though two tribes have declined to send representatives. Each voting member of the House represents around 9,000 citizens of the state. Because it is a part-time position, members of the Maine House of Representatives usually have outside employment as well. Members are limited to four consecutive terms of two years each, but may run again after two years. The House meets at the Maine State House in Augusta. The University of Maine School of Law (UMaine Law or Maine Law) is public law school in Portland, Maine. It is accredited by the American Bar Association and Maine's only law school. Edmund Sixtus Muskie (March 28, 1914March 26, 1996) was an American statesman and political leader who served as the 58th United States Secretary of State under President Jimmy Carter, a United States Senator from Maine from 1959 to 1980, the 64th Governor of Maine from 1955 to 1959, and a member of the Maine House of Representatives from 1946 to 1951. He was the Democratic Party's candidate for Vice President of the United States in the 1968 presidential election.
