David L. Curtis
David L. Curtis (born February 4, 1947) is an American politician who served in the North Carolina Senate from the 44th district from 2013 to 2018. He was defeated in the primary election in May 2018. Rather than wait until the end of his term, Curtis resigned effective the end of the legislative term in June. North Carolina's 44th Senate district is one of 50 districts in the North Carolina Senate. It has been represented by Republican Ted Alexander since 2019. Victoria Burgess Sawyer (born ) is a Republican member of the North Carolina Senate. She represents the Senate's 37th district which includes Iredell and Mecklenburg Counties. Sawyer was previously appointed to serve in the Senate for District 34. Prior to that, she served in Senate District 44 from August 2, 2018 to January 2019. Mooresville is a large town located in the southwestern section of Iredell County, North Carolina, United States, and is a part of the fast-growing Charlotte metropolitan area. The North Carolina Senate is the upper chamber of the North Carolina General Assembly, which along with the North Carolina House of Representatives—the lower chamber—comprises the state legislature of North Carolina. The term of office for each senator is only two years. The Senate's prerogatives and powers are similar to those of the other house, the House of Representatives.
